I really like Matt Dallas for Ian. Ian is described as tall (one of the tallest in the group), fair, around 25 years old (stated por Meyer's in an interview) with black hair and vivid blue eyes. While Matt Dallas doesn't have "vivid blue eyes" that can be easily fixed with contacts.

I don't really understand why everyone says Ian Somerhalder. He barely matches Ian's description. Yes, Somerhalder has the right eyes, but he's not very fair, a little old, only 5'9 and his hair is dirty blond. I really don't see Stephenie Meyer allowing the whole hair-dying drama to happen again like it did on the Twilight set. Also, Somerhalder has too much of a bad boy look/mentality. In the novel I never saw Ian portrayed as the bad-boy-turned-good-guy. I know, I know.. he did help attack Melanie/Wanderer in the beginning, but that appeared to be mais about survival and fear than his personality. Ian always acted mais like the sweet, smart boy-next-door type.

Yes again :) He's my number one choice for Ian, too :) Ian Sommerhalder seems a bit old now.

And Matt Dallas seems like he has a halo above his head :)

I gues i could see it, but I know that, atuação wise, Somerhalder is able to portray every facet of Ian

I don't know if I agree that Somerhalder could play "every facet of Ian." I have seen several films and shows that he has been in and he seems to just play “the bad boy,” but I could be wrong. Nothing can change his height situation though. I know I wasn’t the only one annoyed with the issue that arose with Taylor Lautner in Twilight. Don’t get me wrong, I like Lautner as Jacob and I’m glad they didn’t change actors in the middle of a series, but I was sad that a key physical trait of his character (extreme grow spurt, height) was lost in the movie. If they did the same thing with The Host movie, I think many fãs would be disappointed with the effect on screen. Melanie is suppose to be a tall girl (maybe 5’7), and if Somerhalder is cast, he will only be a couple of inches taller than the actress chosen, not the big strong man described in the book.
