Note: This was my speech for debate team, therefore it would be presented as a proper speech and not something for online viewing, take this into consideration while leitura this, thank you, and enjoy.

Imagine a world where you could be turned down from a job because you were black and your employer was a white man, a world where you can be pulled over and asked for citizenship for being a Mexican, a world in which you cannot marry the amor of your life because you two were the same sex.

Welcome to America, friends.

The United States is said to be a free country, one with civility. You would think this due to people like Abraham lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr. It would be.

Unfortunately, my friends, it is not.

Civility is the inherent worth and dignity of every person, thereby fostering a community of mutual respect.

First of all, let’s start with the state of Texas.

Texas is very notorious for its narrow-minded culture, and in my time living in Texas has shown this to be very true. An example of Texas’s uncivil manner is the GOP’s platform for criminalization of gay marriage. The Platform says that homosexuality “tears at the fabric of society, contributes to the breakdown of the family unit and leads to the spread of dangerous communicable diseases.”

If I may, homosexuals do not tear at the fabric of society, its close-minded people who think this because it’s not what they were taught. They were taught they would go to “Hell” if they were homosexuals, and because it is not “natural” to them.

Homosexuals are no different than the average couple and will obviously not contribute to the breakdown of the family unit and lead to the spread of dangerous communicable diseases.

It also states that homosexuality must not be presented as an acceptable “alternative” lifestyle in public schools and “family” should not be redefined to include homosexual couples.

…Do I even need to explain that one?...

Moving away from Texas, let us go to Atheism in America.

Many try to disguise discrimination against non-believers as a moral issue. Gravely mirroring that which is used against homosexuals today and was used only decades atrás against African-Americans. As acceptance for other minority groups and religions grows, Atheists will probably be the last to gain the protection under the 'PC' umbrella.

It has never been advantageous for religions to be accepting or even tolerant of Atheism and doubters. Their smear campaigns, criticism, censorship and punishment of dissenting opinions throughout history still echoes today. It was seen strongest in the anti-communist era with McCarthyism and is now seen in areas dominated por radical Islam.

Shall I quote the past president, George H.W. Bush.

He said: "No, I don't know that Atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God."

How pleasant, and to think, this person is the Texan father of George W. Bush. Who was president of our country a mere 3 years ago.

Now, may I go on with my final topic of Mexican discrimination in Arizona?

The bill for immigration doesn’t seem frivolous at first glance, but take into consideration how these officers of the law figure out who to question, they couldn’t go around randomly asking everybody, no, that would be civil. They must look at the person at hand and ask them for citizenship, and who do they almost always question?

The Mexicans, of course.

Think about it, would you pull over the perky blonde in a sports car driving down the freeway, or would you go after the Mexican man driving a Volkswagen with his wife and seven children? Who do you think was born outside the country?

Civility is much undervalued in race, religion, orientation, and appearance.

If you’re asking about appearance, hey, did you honestly think I would give a good speech dressed like this?

No, you most likely thought I would give a bias speech with no facts at all.

I guess you were wrong.

Now, I bid you all ado, but let me leave you with this.

Ignorance is not innocence, but mortal sin.
