When is the average age to get the period?

I don't care about if youre a girl or a boy...just answer D: my mom said 15-17 but im like -_- my mom ks from somalia and apprently all girls get it around 15-17 over there. But my best friend got it when she was 10! I was so surprised! Im probably gonna get mine 15 at the earliest...

Yeah, this is where it gets tricky. You mentioned your mom is from Somalia; my parents aren't from the US either. I think what is meant por "American" is maybe for people who have deeper roots here? My mom got her first period at 16, but she also suffered thru WWII. I was born and raised here, so I had the benefits of decent nutrtion and health care, which she didn't have then. I think there is a correlation between nutrition and a younger age of first period. But there is a genetic component as well.

A girl can get her period from the ages 8 to 16. Getting your period at 8 or 9 is pretty early. Its a little mais normal to get your period at around 10-13. The average age I'd say would be 11 or 12.
