Who has read Lord of the Flies? Is it good?

I will be a freshman this ano and it is required leitura this coming ano to read Lord of the Flies. I have never read this book before, and no one talks about it so much. I was wondering if it is good.

I have read it, but wasn't very impressed. It's okay. You might like this book. It's easy to read it.

I also had to read it for school and personally I didn't like it. But oi everyone has different tastes right? And if I remember correctly, it wasn't that hard to study.

My friends read it for English and they loathed it. So I guess it isn't.

Haha- I guess I'm the lone man on this one.
I really enjoyed it. It really showed a lot about true human nature and how inside every person there is the ability to be evil.

You're not alone, lauren.

The first time I read Lord of the Flies, I thought it was slower moving than it should have been, for a book about a bunch of kids on a desert island who turn savage.

But when I took a segundo look at it, started analyzing it and talking about it with my friends (we had to read it for class), I actually found myself getting into fairly heated discussions about how the kids acted and should have acted, the irony of some of the events, and tragedy of the novel as a whole.

In short, as far as plot goes, it's pretty dry, but it's ripe with themes and motifs that make for great conversation.

I enjoyed Lord of the Flies. It was a dry plot, as cinders said, but it was quite interesting in the area of character development. Read it and see how you like it.
