CHAPTER 2
A picture of a young blond man was shining on the screen, it was Jacob, their brother, the one who always held it together when everything was falling apart. adele snuggled closer to her brother. And for once, he didn't push her away, instead, he just held her, not speaking a word.”He promised! He promised he would come início early tonight!” she managed to say between her sobs. Then she burst into tears again. Simon held her until she fell asleep, tears still on her cheeks. He carried his sister up to her bed, where she could be far away from the pain. Dreaming, seeing mom, dad, now Jake... 'Why does everyone have to die on us?' Simon thought, as he pulled out some letters from the drawer and went outside, away from the place he had once called 'home'. But it didn't seem like início anymore. No shouting 'mom, dad I'm home!' after school, no 'see you later dad!' when running off to football practice. Nothing. It all seemed so far now.
Simon was completely broken now. Jacob had promised to take care of them, especially Adele. He promised he'd never leave them. Yet that's exactly what he did. Then Simon broke. “JACOB YOU PROMISED! YOU PROMISED YOU'D TAKE CARE OF HER! YOU PROMISED!!!” he yelled as loud as he could and then fainted, right there in the woods.
The seguinte day, when Simon finally woke up, he saw adele kneeling beside him, crying. “What's wrong?” he asked her.
“For a moment... I .. I thought... I thought I'd lost you too,” she mumbled, still crying. Simon sat up and hugged his sister for a segundo and then got up, not letting adele see how completely broken he really was. adele stayed kneeling there for a few minutes, thinking.
“Oh, por the way, marreco, drake and Mark are coming over tonight,” Simon told Adele, when she came to cozinha to find something to eat.
“Oh no! Those two druggies? Since when do you hang out with them again? Oh, right. Now that Jake isn't here to keep you away from troubles, you just have to start ruining your life again don't you?!” she yelled at him, and ran to her room, banging the door loudly.

I sit in the dark. Thinking about Jack. A single tear comes out of my eye, then another. I start to laugh quietly, trying not to wake up my sister. Then, the horrible memory from my awful dream came back to me. I went to the door and paused. I sighed and told myself that nothing is out there but the hallway, the dining room, living room and the kitchen. I took out my phone from my jaqueta and looked at the time. It's 5:59. I rolled my eyes and opened and closed the door quietly and sat on the soft couch. I started to drift into thoughts about Degrassi, and what it would be like if I went there. Then, a black figure moved across the kitchen. Spooked, I quickly walked to my aunts' laptop and looked up some funny vídeos on youtube.com to keep m off track from the figure. Hours passed, and I am still freaked. Ten minutos later, I calm down and look up some mais funny stuff. Ugh! I must be haluccinating from lack of sleep. I rubbed my eyes and went back to my bedroom and passed out.
