*NOTE* I had to change the town of Cayden's and BJ's town. Las Vegas, NM is too far away from Big Spring, TX and it didn't fit with the storyline.
It's now Carlsbad, NM.
Chapter 22
Bone walked into the police station of a small town on the border of Texas and New Mexico. He had become what he feared most…a monster. And now he was hunting down the only person that was a threat to him. He was naked except for his deer skin pants and lobo pelt around his shoulders. His hair had become thick and shaggy; everywhere he went now people feared him.
You should fear me...
A young deputy greeted him, “Need some help?” he asked looking at Bone’s attire.
“I’m looking for someone, I have a feeling he may have come through here.”
“Okay, can you describe the person?”
Bone leaned over the escrivaninha, mesa of the deputy, bringing his face just inches away.
“He’s an animal,” he growled.
The deputy’s scream was quick as his throat was bit out.
BJ and Cayden sat in the living room watching the morning news as reports of towns being massacred over the past 3 days. Each town was just over the border and getting closer to their town.
“So it’s a serial killer?” BJ asked.
“No, serial killers just kill certain people and have psycho problems. Someone here is just killing everyone in these towns like they’re seeking revenge or something,” Cayden replied staring wide-eyed at the TV screen.
A pit grew in his stomach. What if this psycho came to Carlsbad? They didn’t necessarily live in town, they were still a good 25 miles away but he still felt the urge to mover everyone away from here.
Koda stood in the doorway of the living room, listening to the TV. He wasn’t sure who or what was going on with the massacres but he knew nothing was going to happen to them with him around.
He’d make sure of that. Iah sat seguinte to him, signaling him he needed to talk with him.
We can talk here, Koda said.
No, not here; I need to talk to you out of lobo form.
Kodak nodded leading Iah to the back door.
“Okay, what’s the matter with you?” Koda asked but Iah was nowhere in sight.
“Where you at?”
A sharp whistle sounded above him, he looked up to see Iah not as a lobo on the roof.
“Why are you up there for?” he asked as he jumped up on the roof.
“Private. No little Irish girl can find me up here.”
“If you think she’s clingy to you now, imagine if she saw you right now.”
Iah just stared at him, apparently not getting the joke.
“Never mind, you’ll get it someday maybe. So what’s going on?”
“Nukpana is planning something and it has something to do with—“he was caught off por Koda staring into the distance, straining his eyes against the sun.
“I think I can see my bike out there, I completely forgot about it!” he said jumping down and heading towards it.
“Koda! This is important!” he yelled jumping down as well. He stopped, forgetting he was still in human form. He went back to being a lobo and ran after Koda.
“Alright I’ve had enough news.” Cayden said switching off the TV. He and BJ sat quietly for a while, both of them still feeling anxious.
“Until this whole things blows over, none of us are going into town.” He suddenly said. BJ did not protest with him.
“No way am I stepping out of this house.”
A knock on the door made them jump.
“That’s weird, we never get anybody coming to the house,” he said feeling his coração jump.
“Don’t open the door,” BJ whispered, not wanting the person at the door to hear her.
Cayden grabbed the shotgun from his gun rack on the wall, “I’ll peek to see who or what it is. If it’s a psycho I’ll blow his f----ing head off.”
He peeked through the curtain on the door window. It was a tall lanky guy that looked like he just came from a mechanic’s garage. He didn’t appear to have a weapon on him.
“What do you want?” he yelled through the door.
“Cayden!” BJ hissed.
He mouthed, ‘it’s okay’ at her.
“Uh, I’m looking for my friend. His name is Koda, he told me he was riding through this town.”
Cayden looked at his sister, shrugging his shoulders not sure what to do.
“Yeah he’s here, anything wrong?” he yelled back.
“No, just need to talk to him.”
He chewed his lower lip and sighed, “What should we do?” he whispered to BJ.
“Just open the door, Koda hasn’t done anything to us,” she said.
Cayden carefully opened the door but kept his gun at the ready.
“Thanks man,” the stranger said as he kicked the door into Cayden knocking him to the floor.
Koda finally got to his bike and checked it all over for any damages to it.
It was fine but a bit dusty and needed a waxing. He thought about riding it back to the house or just walk it over there. He heard growling seguinte to him and he looked to see Iah glaring at him.
“Oh sorry you wanted to tell me something?” he said.
Iah turned his neck back at the house with his ears perked up.
“What’s the matter?” he asked.
Iah yelped at ran towards the house.
Koda sensed something was wrong. Very wrong.
“Okay, I’ll say it again: I’m here for Koda, I know he’s here and I’m gonna kill him.”
Jax had both Cayden and BJ standing in the kitchen. He had grabbed Cayden’s shotgun and unloaded it making him weaponless.
“Why? He hasn’t done anything!” BJ cried.
“Oh you have no idea how dangerous he is darlin’. This guy has killed before; he killed my best friend!” he screamed. His eyes were wild with anger.
“Now where is he?!”
“I don’t know! He’s obviously not in the house,” Cayden yelled putting himself in front of BJ to protect her.
“Maybe this will help you,” he pointed his gun at Cayden’s chest but a brutal force slammed into his back, knocking him to the floor along with the deafening bang.
Cayden fell against BJ clutching his stomach.
It's now Carlsbad, NM.
