waimea picked Ravenclaw:
I think she had the brains for Ravenclaw (after all, Snape is damn smart so he had to get his intellect somewhere), but even with her pure-blood status, she didn't have the ambition that would point her towards Slytherin, the courage that would put her in Gryffindor, and too brainy for Hufflepuff.

Slytherin. Why else would Severus wish to be sorted into that House? We know the Sorting Hat often sorts along Family lines.

Waimea, how do you figure that Eileen lacked ambition? She was the captain of the Hogwarts Gobstones team, and you don't make captain of a team without having at least some ambition. Crabbe and Goyle were both Slytherins, and where was their ambition?

I don't know why, buy I've always leaned towards Ravenclaw. That brilliant mind that Severus has, he did not try to hide it, in fact, he nurtured it, through everything he always learned more, that curiosity that led him towards the Dark Arts, want of knowledge, want to understand the how and why of it. You must understand everything about something to be able to control it. That seems to be a truly Ravenclaw sentiment. The Slytherin though would be the ambition he had to use that knowledge for his own.
And I think a mother would have tried to nurture that knowledge, that wanting to learn, as a way to escape things in the home, as a way to succeed at school.
Really, Slytherin and Ravenclaw have always been neck and neck for me. But, Slytherin always fals just a little below Ravenclaw.

I can't see what a Slytherin would have gotten out of marrying a muggle, (Severus' father?), and I can't see a Slytherin allowing herself to be treated like she was treated by her husband (poison anyone?), so, Ravenclaw I tend to believe.

As a Hufflepuff, I'm actually kind of offended by the "too smart for Hufflepuff" comment. >.<

@bri-marie: yeah, I was offended a little by it too, but at least it was quite a bit nicer than anything I see posted in the Great Hall on Pottermore.

Well either Slytherin or Ravenclaw..but then again in the book didn't it say that Severus had a deep wanting to be in Slytherin? So there for would that mean that his mother Eileen was in Slytherin too? And that she too might have been considered for being put in Ravenclaw too? Makes sense don't it?
