 The young couple!
The young couple!
Hi guys, I amor musicais and this is the other periodical musical film that I'm going to write about.

The Story

It was a very unusual story, because Laurey is caught in a amor triângulo between Curly and the town bully name Jud. For obvious reasons, he reminds of Gaston from Disney's Beauty and the Beast to which I will come to write about the similarities later.
My favourite scene is definitely the songs 'Many a New Day' and 'Oh What a Beautiful Mornin'. I just can't get these 2 songs out of my head!

The Characters

I amor Curly and Laurey because I personally felt that they have mais chemistry compare to other couples nowadays, as mentioned, Jud is like Gaston mainly because they are brutish, arrogant and selfish. In fact, I was very happy that he got to taste his own medicine when he interrupted the wedding!

The Songs

Unlike Rodgers and Hammerstein's musicals, this was very different and it sounds very different.

Out Of My Dreams

So, here is my very short review on this cowboy musical film adaptation.

"THE MISSISSIPPI GAMBLER" (1953) Review

Tyrone Power's career took a strange turn during the post-World War II years. Although he still managed to maintain his position as one of Twentieth Century Fox's topo, início stars during the remainder of the 1940s, something happened as the 1950s dawned. Powers still found himself in Grade A filmes during that particular decade. But he also seemed to appear in a growing number of standard costume melodramas.

Twentieth Century raposa lent Powers to Universal Pictures to estrela in the 1953 drama called "THE MISSISSIPPI GAMBLER". Directed por Rudolph Maté, "THE MISSISSIPPI...

As you probably have already guessed, I am rewatching and recapping Poldark. This romantic saga follows Ross Poldark (Robin Ellis) as he loses his fiancée, the well-bred beauty, Elizabeth (Jill Townsend), to his cousin Francis (Clive Francis). Ross ends up marrying his servant, the unlikely-looking Demelza (Angharad Rees), but his passion for Elizabeth simmers on for years. Set in late 18th century Cornwall, the plot follows Ross Poldark’s attempts to make his derelict tin mines a success.

PART 1

Ross Poldark, limping and scarred, returns from the American war toCornwall after a daring escape from a French prison camp..... link
"THE JOURNEY OF AUGUST KING" (1995) Review

When the 1995 adaptation of John Ehle's 1971 novel, "The Journey of August King" hit the theaters, it barely made a flicker in the consciousness of moviegoers. In a way, I could see why.

"THE JOURNEY OF AUGUST KING" begins with widowed farmer August King traveling through the hills of western North Carolina in the spring of 1815, after selling his produce, making a final payment on his land, and purchasing goods at the local markets. During his journey, he learns about a hunt for an escaped slave. August eventually comes across the slave - a 17 year-old...

"LOST IN AUSTEN" (2008) Review

I must admit that I am usually not a fã of novels or any other forms of storytelling that are based upon or continuations of published works of the origin author. This is certainly the case for the numerous works (sans two) based upon Jane Austen's six published novels.

The 2008 miniseries, "LOST IN AUSTEN" is not based upon any particular Austen novel that was not written por the Georgian Era writer. Instead, it is the brainchild of screenwriter Guy Andrews. The latter created this fantasy-comedy, which is an adaptation of Austen's novel, "Pride and Prejudice"...
