So your best friend likes the same guy well i say you just tell her what's going on and tell her where you stand. Just tell her that if he (the guy) ever asks one of you out you have to respect her that you will fight for him and not afraid to get ugly. But not ugly enough to ruin your friendship but just enough to show him your and american BADASS and your not afraid to get dirty if you have to. Just tell her that if he asked her out you'd be happy for her even though you wouldn't. Also tell her that if he asked you out of course you'd say yes but you'd want her to be happy for you too! Even if it does kill you a little on the inside.

Another question.....that is oh so cliche. I've been in the same situation. It isn't too fun. I've also been in the opposite position as well....liking my best guy friend. Truly an awkward predicament.
Since you don't like him in that way, my conselhos would be to set him straight. Just explain that you still want to be friends, but nothing more. You don't see him in that way. Just remember not to flirt with him or lead him on. Granted, your guy friend my be embarrassed or offended that you don't like him back....
