Reasons for Snily?

I was leitura a confession on Tumblr today about Snape and Lily and all the reasons they shouldn't be together. I honestly couldn't agree mais with them but I was wondering what other people's opinions are of them two being together and/or their amor for one another.

I really can't understand Snape's amor for Lily and how he never let go even though it had been such a long time but he was happy for James and Harry to be murdered.

I agree that they shouldn't be together. She didn't amor him, she loved James. And Snape's amor was a little twisted. He was fine with letting James and Harry die, but if he really loved her he should've known that Lily would never have wanted that. And when Harry, her son, was at Hogwarts he treated him really badly. And if those reasons weren't enough, he was on Voldemort's side for a while. He told Voldemort about the prophecy in the first place. I just don't understand why people think they should've been together. I know a lot of them hate James, but he was a good person. He was brave. he was mean to Snape in school, but Snape wasn't exactly nice to him either. And Snape did plenty of awful things later in life himself.

I don't think Snape treated Harry badly because he really meant to. Perhaps on a personal level, to some extent, yes, as a revenge against James' bullying, and because he did not like Harry because Lily died protecting him (But for goodness sake, what do you expect from a mother but to protect her son?). However, this is the most important point to remember: Snape HAD to treat Harry badly to convince everyone that he is with Voldemort's side and against Harry's side. Remember that!!!!

I agree that they don't belong together. I disagree with his amor for her being twisted though as well as the phrasing "he was fine with letting James and Harry die". I saw no evidence of this in the books. He was highly distressed and at the time he spoke to Dumbledore all he was worried about was to save Lily's life. There was an element of urgency at the time so he got straight to the point. When Dumbledore pointed out that James's and Harry's lives were also in Danger Snape didn't say he didn't care, he said save them all. After Lily died, he continued protecting Harry, not because he liked the boy, but because he was her son and because he knew she had been important to her. If that argument were to be used then James' amor for Lily was also twisted. For most of his years at Hogwarts he knew Snape was important to Lily, yet he not only didn't stop harm from happening to Snape, butbhe actively sought to cause harm to Snape. Even while in her presence. I don't think they belonged together because Lily never loved him like that. Snape did not belong with someone who didn't amor him.

Okay, and that's great and all, but people keep forgetting that Lily never loved him like that...

Not at all. Like I said, I agree they did not belong together. Read the 1st line and the last 2 lines of my anterior comment.

Snape's amor for Lily was deep down, and I think he couldn't express it properly. Snape could never be the romantic guy. James was better in that. I wouldn't say that he did not deserve her, but after all, even if Lily harboured feelings for Snape, she wanted to be loved.

They should have been together. I think its sweet that for years Severus loved Lily, even if she didn't amor him back. Would you say that James and Lily shouldn't have been together if it had been reversed? The sheer fact that Severus tried to save her was sweet. He truly loved her. I wish someone would amor me like that.

But what about Lily? For a couple to be happy they have to amor each other. Lily didn't amor Snape.

perhaps she did at one point, until he let slip the "M" word
