It could be argued that the Joker is the most iconic villain in all of fiction. He first appeared in 1940. He was meant to just be one of the many villains batman encountered. However, the Joker was a character with so much potential that he managed to constantly re-appear in batman comics. He's gone on to become Batman's arch enemy. In addition to that, he has had several live action adaptations, two of which won the Oscar.

In 1939, batman first appeared. During that year, batman was on his own. The seguinte year, batman was given a sidekick, Robin, the boy wonder. Robin quickly became a prominent character in the batman franchise. Robin didn't appear in either of the batman films directed por Tim Burton. There were plans to have Robin in the 1st film, but he ended up being cut out. History repeated itself with the 2nd film. Robin doesn't appear in batman V super-homem or Justice League, because he was murdered por the Joker, offscreen.
