So this all happened when I made a post on specifically why I dislike Frozen.

Original post:
You know I know some people dislike Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante because it's overrated, but I just don't like filmes that are "made for their time" I like filmes that strive to be classic. It's one of the main reasons I dislike Aladdin, Hercules, Frozen, and, though I like enrolados more, that as well. I don't know, I just felt like I should say that.

That being the reason I disliked Frozen, some people thought that it was mais timeless than what I was giving it credit for.

I dislike Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante because of the story and the characters, although it is very overrated, that doesn't effect my decision as much.

Why is Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante and enrolados only made for it's time? I understand Hercules and aladdin because of pop cultural references all over the place, but I think that disney was trying to make Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante and enrolados to last for a while. And filmes like aladdin did last a long time with a big fã base so. I don't now I'm probably way off.

Agree with Sk8er :3

aladdin is actually considered a timeless classic, I think Hercules is too but I'm not sure. I think Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante is just the product of the time. But enrolados seems timeless to me.

Pop culture references die after time moves on, frankly none of my little cousins get genies jokes. Hercules is a tad mais timeless, but if you can see something that relates to the now time and would be found say 50 or 100 years atrás I wouldn't really like it. Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante is made for the time considering the whole "You can't marry a man you just met" thing. Also Anna is a ball of awkwardness that say modern things like "I won't judge" and general being. The fact that it's CGI as well, you wouldn't find that years atrás and in the future it'll be outdated. animê eyes on the girls and not the boys is also a product of our time. All you need to do is look at all Genie's jokes in aladdin and The way people speak and act in Hercules and you can see why it's made for its time. References Thebes as 1990's New York. I'm just not a particular fã about that. Just as Your or our generation is for aladdin Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante will become that for the younger kids and some in my generation. And then in the seguinte 30 or so years when Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante is no longer "with it" there going to make another movie for the current time with better graphics and plot line or what have you. That's why I'm not interested in those.

Sk8er__grl commented…
Hmm, interesting. I can see where your coming from, really. A person can make the argument that neither is, "Snow white and the seven dwarves" because Snow gets married right away and waits for a prince and doesn't do anything feministy or whatever, yet the movie still stays with us and it's still marveled at for it's time. Time had gone by, and now disney is updating it to fit the now time. If disney went back and made SWTSD today it wouldn't be the box office success it was 70 years ago. So depending on how long disney stays the filmes will change and look different and have different messages, but the people from those days can still look back to filmes made today and still enjoy them and still amor them. In fact, if I was watching Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante in the future I'd probably like it mais than I do today, I know it wouldn't be up to what we would have then but I'd still appreciate it and when it came out. I should of let somebody else take this debate, sorry, I don't think I worded it well.

Actually the classics to some extent are made for their time. However they are call "classic" for a reason, not of their terminology pertains to the time. Their aren't any Madelyne Monroe jokes, no "Well gee willikers bobby" phrases. Nothing that says we are taking something from what is popular today. The animê eyes and the "I don't judge" from Anna are sources from today's pop culture. Genie makes several jokes about old celebrities and even though I know who they are (thanks to older kids) I still don't understand the reference as I wasn't born in that time and I don't understand how it could be funny.
If say cinderela made a reference to Gilagans island or quoted something from a black and white movie the majority of the world today wouldn't get it, or even understand it was a quote. Something that pertains to time is when it hasn't changed in centuries. The way women act HAS changed so you can't really say that the way they act is from the time. However the way we speak HAS'NT changed, we still use formal literature, something like YOLO would be a product of the time. Even the humor of something can be a "now" thing. Like in enrolados how Flynn says "I don't sing" but then they point their knives at him and he sings, that too can be lost to the future generation.
CGI, Big eyes and internet slang are from the current time. Even pawned Kristoff said about his sleigh "but I just paid it off" none of the classics make any reference to cars. Also how Anna says "foot size doesn't matter" and "all men do it" you don't see the classics doing that because it's set in the time period of the movie (1300's for Sleeping Beauty ect.) Why would you do anything that hints to the time it was made if you want it to be classic. We don't ride in wagons anymore so if SnowWhite were to say "But I paid 16 whole shillings for that" we don't know what shillings are or that she actually didn't have to pay it slowly over time. In the seguinte 100 or so years I can assume we either won't being using cars or it'll be MUCH different. If you put any modern references in the mouth of a classic DP you can tell the difference and why one is classic and one is modern or revival or renaissance.

I see what you mean, but those things never bothered me in the movies, I dislike how they've made Anna and Rapunzel mais modern though.

OH. We're getting DEEP here! :O This is a pretty awesome debate. I'm on BellRose's side, disney was a big competitor for... the cartoon that produced Betty Boop, (Warner Bros?) and their competitors weren't timeless, obviously. There were many adult jokes and extreme themes associated with them and the way disney beat their funny material was por making sure everything was classical- just like it came from a storybook. That's why we see Aurora being wakened up por the Phillip and not Tom and Jerry. That's what sets disney apart from, every other competitor it had. While a lot of it's filmes were kind of giving in to the competitor bowl, the classics are remembered and treasured today because they're timeless. They never get old. Frozen, Despicable Me, Rio, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs? I don't think anyone will remember them. (I don't wanna be really harsh and say Brave, because it was a decent movie and did a great job at being timeless.
The story itself, wasn't that great imo.) And look at Wall-E, Up, Finding Nemo, Toy Story, Monsters Inc- everyone will remember them. And there were some sly modern jokes hidden amongst the ones I listed, but a fad will soon come to fade. Okay, where am I going with this? I'm not saying that aladdin won't be remembered, heck mulan is just growing from internet famous and the Black Cauldron has always stayed internet famous :( My point is, being timeless is what sets disney apart from Bluesky studious, Warner Bros, etc... Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante wouldn't even have to be classic for it to be a really huge hit like Toy Story, but when the story lacks depth and the modern jokes fill up for it, there's a problem. That's all I'm saying. I don't think that having modern jokes will make a movie forgettable in the future. I'm saying that an average story can get forgotten. Filler jokes only add in them. But look at ATLA. They're pretty modern, but aside, they have the 'normal' formula I was talking about.

I really enjoyed leitura everyone's opinions on this topic. I agree with a lot of/most of what hajirah and BelleRose said. There are some filmes that are made for a certain time period that I adore (Oliver & Company, A Goofy Movie, Aladdin), but the ones that aren't truly are classic. I actually think The Princess and the Frog was a pretty good effort toward "timelessness" Maybe I need to re-watch it, but I don't really remember anything that shouts "2000s"

dimitri_ commented…
I definitely see where you're coming and I do prefer timeless movies. Except if it just oozes the 90s, so bias of me :P and the reasons aladdin and Hercules are considered classic is because they were in that hand-drawn area IMO.

BelleRose829 commented…
Yeah, basically there is the Museum of Modern Art in New York and there is the Louvre in Paris, the fact of the matter there are both master pieces in their own way, but one is mais traditional and one is expressing what it is in the now. Both are great, I just prefer the Louvre something classic (SnowWhite), but others can still like MoMA (Tangled). They are products of their time and that can last for some time, but it's going to fade. People don't really understand older slang, for a reason they are trends, none of us wear 1940's poodle skirts because that was popular then, not now. There is a traditional way of being and it's sticking to a specific time period, jumping in and out of the setting isn't.
The way the way filmes taken out of the time is ok this is the 1800's what was going on at this time? Ah right this this and this, oh let's throw in a modern joke about Michael Jackson. Even so they don't reference to famous actors in the 1800's because unless you're a history buff you aren't going to get the joke. All the same I can apprieate modern movies, but it's very easy to see that they are made for their time i.e. The Lego Movie, Aladdin, A Goofy Movie, High School Musical, Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante ect.

And we had a little debate, I thought why not make it formal so I could see what the vast majority thinks. So leave your comments below. :3

I honestly would amor to know what kind of job cinderela would get if she ran away. Yep, I'm talking to you, pretty_angel92! Please, speak up! Like AudreyFreak said, do you guys forget they were NO women's shelters or abuse hotlines back then? Women were nearly powerless.Stop judging her as a modern woman-she is NOT MODERN. You know someone who does something very similar to Cinderella? ALADDIN. His situation was just as tough as Cinderella's, maybe slightly easier. But while EVERYONE complains about cinderela not getting a job, aladdin gets NO COMPLAINTS about that AT ALL. Is it because...

11. Merida (254 points)

Everybody expected her to be ranked the lowest. A lot of people resent that she is becoming a disney Princess, and I think that is a part of why she is the least favorito princess. People said that she was strong, free-spirited, rebellious, and independent which people liked about her. What people did not like about her is that she was whiny, disrespectful, spoiled, selfish,...

In the last part Alexandra helped Rapunzel to get her dream come true and the dream really came true. In this part we'll meet the seguinte princess Tiana who has a very realistic dream!

Alexandra was back at the room with 10 doors, but now the door that she went in first was gone so now only 9 doors excisted. She discoverd a new key at the mesa, tabela and opened the door to the left of where the first door where before and it opened.

This was a huge difference from the first room, this almost felt like home. She stood infront of a very simple little house, but she couldn't stay there for very long because...

Ok sooooo I was just wondering if you know any people or literally think a celebrity looks like the perfect princess(Aurora, Cinderella, Belle, Etc) Ok soooo post pictures below with some people you think would be like the human versions of them...

Rules:

Can be famous or not it doesnt matter it can even be you!

No rude comments always respect others opinions...

Sooo yeah thats it i might think about a public vote for it even but if there are famous people against regular people i might do 2 to make it fair.

(Keep in mind this isnt like if they made a movie just someone you think is a perfect embodiment of the character)
