Lizzie wondered how she hadn't thought of this before. Sure it was a bit of a leap of faith but she had no where else to go. She had read the books and been up and down the ladder about a hundred times and still had not found much of a clue. She climbed up the ladder and picked up the last book. It was her last hope that she had. Then it was there!
"The tale that I had always thought was simply a child's tale is true. Last week I went on a hunting trip with several of my closest friends near the kingdom of Corona. I went off on my own for a moment to find a drink of water. When I got off of my horse I almost nearly stepped on it a beautiful glowing Rapunzel flower. My father had always told me about it and I almost picked it. Then I remembered the last part of the tale. If the flor was picked for selfish reasons or without a cause, it would wither and its magic would no longer work. I decided to leave the flor where it was but covered it to make sure it was seguro and wouldn't be stepped on and then went off to meet back up with my friends."
Elizabeth flipped the book over and the cover revealed that this book was her grandfather's. She was shocked and wondered if her father had known about this book. Apparently the story had been in the family longer than she had thought. Elizabeth continued reading.
"If the flor is ever need I suggest just taking one petal since the tale says to not be selfish. It can be mixed and taken as a liquid or simply eaten. I know nothing else about this flor but I hope one dia this will be helpful to someone in need."
Elizabeth held the book to her chest. She was so thankful for this book and that her grandfather had been wise enough to have written this down. Her grandfather had died when Lizzie was nine and when her younger brother Ethan was six. Michael had just been born. Lizzie remembered her grandfather as a kind old man and remembered him always leitura to her in the garden. She got up from the mesa, tabela and a piece of paper fell out. A map of Corona!
"How much luckier could I get?" Lizzie wondered. She got up to leave the study and she found her answer. She almost knocked right into Cornelia.
"Cornelia, how long have you been here?" Lizzie asked.
"Lizzie, I'm a light sleeper and you know that." Cornelia replied. Lizzie liked how Cornelia was one of the only people other than her father that didn't act strange around her. It was either the servants atuação nervous around Lizzie like she would cut off her head or her mother or the headmaster reprimanding her. Cornelia was neither. She could be soft spoken and lady-like but she also could be firm and nothing got past her. "Now what's going on? And don't you even think you can lie to me. I know you've been here for at least forty-five minutes."
Elizabeth sighed. She knew she couldn't get anything past Cornelia so she told her.
"Lizzie that's genius! But really how do you think you're going to make it to Corona? It's at least a three day's journey on foot maybe four. It would be shorter por horse but someone would notice if you took Summer Breeze."
"Then I'll go on foot. It's not that big of a problem."
"Okay Lizzie but let me help you."
Elizabeth agreed and the two girls went to the other side of the palace where Cornelia and her parents lived. Her father was in charge of palace affairs and her mother was the queen's seamstress. They entered the suite and walked into a dark parlor. Cornelia grabbed a cloth bag off of the counter and place some apples, a loaf of bread, and some cheese into it.
"This should last you for the trip to Corona. You can also pick some berries. Now you need an outfit. You can't look like a princess. It will cause suspicion and you don't know who you'll meet in the forest. My room is right over here."
Elizabeth was slightly shocked to see how small Cornelia's room was compared to her own. Cornelia walked over to her closet and pulled out a simple green dress.
"My mother made this for me for days when I go to town."
"You go to town?!" Elizabeth shrieked. Then in a lower tone she said, "Why didn't you ever bring me?"
"It was just easier I guess. Don't tell your parents though. They'll be mad at me and my parents and..."
"Don't worry, I won't." The girls shared a quick smile and then Cornelia grabbed Elizabeth por the wrist.
"We have a secret staircase that leads to a door por the practice field. I guess your parents didn't know that either but that's how I got out. It will take you right out to about where you and your father rode. You know where to go from there right?"
"Yes, I have a map so I should be good." Elizabeth turned to go down the stairs. "And Cornelia?"
"Yes?"
"Thank you for everything." The girls hugged and Elizabeth opened the door to go down the stairs. Elizabeth knew she should be worried about her mother finding out but no one had seemed to be worried about her for the past couple of days and Cornelia would be covering for her so everything should be good. What Elizabeth was mais worried about was what she might encounter in the forest. She made it to the practice field and stepped over the fence that her and her father had been over thousands of times. She entered the clearing and looked at her map wondering how she was ever going to do this.
