Do you think political correctness has gone too far?

The nursery rhyme 'Baa Baa Black sheep' has been banned now in schools. Children are taught to sing 'Baa baa fluffy sheep' instead. This is just one of the reasons that I feel political correctness has gone to far. I think that it is important not to be offensive, but it should NOT be be focused on obbsessivly. What do YOU think?

I don't even know what to say... The excact thing happened in Norway. The child hospitals needed to take their pictures of pigs away, because it offended some muslims, that the swimming lessions in school should be divided between girls and boys because the girl showed off some naked skin... We have so many exsamples of this in Norway, and I (and my party) can't get people to understand this. White people are too afraid to say something against it, because they think it's racism, but it isn't! This is just wrong! Yesterday, I watched a música video with only black people in it. ONLY black people! If a white artist had done something similar, he or she would have been called racists! Well, THAT'S racism! We're equal, but white people are atuação like we own black people something for the slavery, and so does some black people. Well, that wasn't us, nor them! I've probably said this before, but for a while ago, when I discussed with a black girl, I called her a racist because she said something really bad, and guess what she said? "I can't be a racist, because I'm black.". That's how racism works today. And sorry for my bad enlgish, it's late in Norway lol

I think that is ridiculous!Outrageous. That just shows that our USA govt. is thinking about that the wrong way. it's like when somebody says something, and a "perverted" person hears it, they take the saying, and change it up, so that it fits their own language, which is disgusting... I think that they took that matter the wrong way, and they need to look at it in any other possible way.

I appriciate your answer and you have a good point. However, I have to point out that its only been banned in the Uk as far as I know, not the US

I don't think it's just democrats. The governments in general decide these things. Our equivalent in the UK (the Lib-Dems) aren't overly sensative, and I haven't really seen your Democrats be overly sensitive. It's unfair to blame them solely.

Haha, I know what you mean!! In Britain it was changed to "Baa Baa arco iris, arco-íris Sheep" a few years ago.

Now, it has been changed to "Baa Baa Woolly Sheep" because apparently "Rainbow Sheep" is offensive to gay people!! WTF?!?

That's absolutely ridiculous. The song is , and alwasy has been, 'Baa baa Black sheep'. I also heard that people aren't allowed to say 'black board' anymore because 'it's racist', but then they're allowed to say 'white board'! It's just madness.

With somethings..yes.

Like (I'm not heavy religious; mostly spiritual) We can't, in USA, sing the pledge of allegiance in school any more. (well, when I was in school) because it says 'one nation under god'.
Now, America was built on the belief of God, if I'm not mistaken so those who come here should respect that. We should not have to change our ways to fit anyone else.
When we go to their countries, they don't change anything for us. So we shouldn't. Not to go back and forth in a childish manner, though. xD

And whats up with that black ovelha, ovelhas thing? I'm not getting why they changed it.
