Chinese woman forced to have an abortion at seven months: your reaction?

Feng Jianmei was forced to have an abortion because she had broken the 'one child only' policy in China and could not afford to pay the fine as her mother needed cancer treatment.

I won't go into details because they are pretty horrific but you can find out mais por googling it.

@Dada this isn't what abortion is, this is what psychopathy is. Abortion can save lives and it can save futures. Besides normal countries wouldn't let someone have an abortion this late.

The phrase "forced to have an abortion" is pretty disturbing
That's terrible.
I'm pro-choice, but this is NOT choice, this is messed up and not okay.

That's sick.

I'm pro-choice, but forcing someone to go through an abortion when the baby is 7 months old is psychopathic. It's not only physical torture, it's also psychological torture.

People say weird shit happens in Japan, but they obviously missed China :/

Btw people shouldn't have abortions that late at all IMO :/ If you let it advance 'till 7 months then let it be born and put it up for adoption. My little niece was born when my cousin was 7 months pregnant. 7 months is too late for an abortion, way too late.
I think if the mother would be forced to put the baby up for adoption to another country like the US it wouldn't have been that horrific.

It's dreadful. It would have been so traumatic for the mother

In my personal veiw (take it or leave it);

When a woman first conceives, the thing inside her uterus is but a ball of cells multiplying. It is microscopic and is as simple as a microbe.
Even in the first 3 months, it is still not human enough to feel pain- to be subjected to suffering.

But at 7 months- it is alive. It yawns, it dreams (really!), it stretches, it can feel pain.

As for the mother, she can feel OMINOUS PAIN WHEN A UNBORN BABY IS THRUST OUT HER UTERUS.

It's unfair on both parties, and I don't like how people (not on this site) are defending it as being "Pro-choice".
Where is the "pro-choice" when her (by this point) baby is forcibly tore from her own body.
That was not her choice.

And while i am pro-choice, i am very sympathectic towards pro-lifers. I can understand why they feel this way, and a part of me finds it sad too, though sometimes neccessary.

But thats a baby. At least por then.
And thats a woman who is emotionally scarred for life.

People are defending this? Since when has 'forced' become the definition of chosen? That poor poor woman.

My reaction? Utter revulsion and disgust.

I am pro choice, but abortion is a sad thing. No one should be forced to that.

If the rule says only one child then that means one child, I mean I would think she knew that when she had sex after her first child. Sounds cruel to make her have an abortion, yeah but I have to wonder, did the lady take precaution to make sure she wouldn't get pregnant again.

I mean if I had my first child and wanted to have sex afterwards, you would think in the first six months she would save enough money to be able to pay the "fine". If she couldn't afford to pay for it then she she never risk the potential of having a child.

I know it sounds mean but that is how I think, there is always a way to avoid a consequence, your job is to make sure you can avoid them.
