Is cristianismo the only religion that states homosexuality is wrong?

I've been hearing this statement from people on fanpop and from a friend of mine at my high school. I was just wondering if this was really true....

PS: For those who will answer, "Yes..." please post a link to a website that supports your answer if you can. I don't mean to be a pain, but I'm just sort of doubtful about this at the moment.

Oh yes of course.
As well as cristianismo there is the Islam, agnostic, atheist, Jewish, pagan: Basically, any one can be homophobic. You don't need a holy book hammering in your head to detest homosexuality.

"You don't need a holy book hammering in your head to detest homosexuality." Well, I wouldn't say it's that way for a lot of religious people (myself included), but I do agree with you. :)

Oh don't worry, i know that few christians are homophobic, and the ones that are, are usually because of ignorance, not belief. I grew up in a catholic town, where pretty much 90 percent of the citizens there were catholic, and my family are christian, i went to a christian school, all my friends are christian (with the exclusion of 2.) I suppose i said that simply because when the bible came into the hands of kings and queens, centuries atrás (as you probably know) they would editar things and add stuff and cut things out of the bible to fit there beliefs and change others. Which is (probably) why there are so many versions of various bible-storys. i suppose i should of found a better way to put that. :)

Muslims, since they will kill homosexuals in certain countries that are mostly Muslims. I'm Christian, but I would NEVER condone killing homosexuals.

Only the first word actually respostas the question...and I'm Christian too, but we use to do the same thing back in the old days.

^^You will not say anything about Christians, but you judge the western world because they're not muslims?

@imortalsoul17 - I appreciate your sentiment, but allow me to ammend your declatation to say "No one should say anything about islamismo [or anything else] unless they are familiar with all aspects of that religion/topic." While I would prefer it if this were the case, I also agree with sapherequeen. Even if you're entirely ignorant on a topic, you have the right to voice your opinion, just as I have the right to blind anyone with such an opinion with logic and information. Though I would much rather engage in conversation with an informed individual, so I can spend my time persuading them, instead of just educating them.

cristianismo is NOT against homosexuals.
There is a lot of translations of the bible and most theologists in modern times agree that quoted verses about how homosexuality is wrong are being wrong interpreted (it's usually about faith, rape or prostitution). In New Testament there are 3 stories who are basically saying that it's alright to be gay, as long as you are a good person and you are born this way, not just trying homosexual sex for fun.
The catholic church (not Christianity!) in first translations take that as "homosexuality is wrong" and kept it because of social matters, as well as they decided to make a Virgin from Maria to promote innocence.
they are still keeping it now, but I srsly have no idea why.

Thank you!! Dear Lord, I get so sick of people saying thing's like all Christians are against Homosexuals... my mum teaches religious studies in a Christian school and she teaches that we should accept them. It's spread por the media too much as well.

This answer just recently caught my interest, and I'd like to invest mais into this information. But pietruszka, if you don't mind my asking, would you tell me the specific titles of these stories and be able give particular frases that verify their message of homosexuality?

^So who influenced you to be straight? And why are kids born to straight parents, surrounded por straight friends, STILL gay?

Yeah, it's a no! But i think that's so silly: so what if you wanna be with someone of the same sex as you? I think they make a big deal out of a simple thing...

There are so many religions that are against Homosexuals... but it's SO wrong for people to think that just because you belong to one of those religions, you must be against them too.

I go to a Catholic school and I don't know anyone who's against people who are gay. Not everyone does it, but a lot of people get the wrong impression and think that because you're Christian you MUST be against gays. These days it's only the extremely religious that still think that way. Most people follow mais important teachings like 'love your neighbour as you do yourself' :)

Agreed. If people hear that someone is religious, they generally assume he/she must be some kind of fundamentalist who believes in what the Bible says and takes it literally. I do believe in God, but I disagree with the church and the common Christian views in many points.

^ Same here. It seems like a lot of things 'Christians' preach aren't really following the basic ideals of Christianity.
