Booth had no idea what to do. He was still in shock from what had happened. A sudden noise struck his ear and snapped him back to the present. It was Brennan’s phone. Following the sound, he dug through her bag till he found it and clicked it on. He held it to his ear without saying anything.
“Bren?” it was Angela, “Sweetie, you there? Hello?”
“Ange?” he asked, right now, even the most familiar things seemed alien to him.

In earlier episodes it was stated that Gormogon only takes widows' sons as apprentices, yet Zack has both of his parents - they're alive and well in Michigan. Even though Zack worked in the Jeffersonian and had special access to Gormogon's vault, Gormogon still broke his own rule por making Zack his apprentice.
