Booth had no idea what to do. He was still in shock from what had happened. A sudden noise struck his ear and snapped him back to the present. It was Brennan’s phone. Following the sound, he dug through her bag till he found it and clicked it on. He held it to his ear without saying anything.
“Bren?” it was Angela, “Sweetie, you there? Hello?”
“Ange?” he asked, right now, even the most familiar things seemed alien to him.
“Booth, where’s Brennan?” He didn’t answer. She asked again, but got nothing “Booth!? Are you all right?”
Everything around Booth suddenly seemed to lose its shape. He felt himself collapse to the ground. The icy cold was taking its toll. The blood that ran from a deep cut to his head was now hard and stuck to his face. The few things he heard was the sound of the forest around him, and the muffled voice of people on the other end of the phone line. He recognized Hodgins and Cam voice as well now. But none stopped him from blacking out.


Brennan woke with a start. Her coração thumped wildly and fear took a hold on her. She couldn’t see anything in the taunting darkness that surrounded her. rope held her hands behind her back, and chains bound her to an iron pole. They were extremely tight, which made it hard to breathe. Blood ran down her face and she felt so tired. She tried to make out her surroundings, when a small voice whispered something.
“Bones?” Parker said.
“I’m here Parker, it’s okay.” She replied, trying to reassure him. He was tied to the other side of the pole and was quietly crying.
“Where’s my dad?” he sobbed. That’s when Brennan remembered. The trip, the crash, Parkers screams, Booth laying beside her and a dark figure dragging her away.
“Bones? Where is he?” his crying got a bit louder.
“I don’t know Parker, but we’ll get out of here, and we’ll find him, okay?”
“Okay.” He whispered. In the darkness, she felt him grab her fingers and hold them.
Behind her, a door was flung open and a small light was switched on. The sudden brightness burned her eyes but revealed that they were inside a warehouse. four Hench men walked in, they were all bulky, but neither as good looking as their master. He was tall and thin, but had mussel, rugged blonde hair, a long, agile, but handsome face with dark, thick eyebrows. He strode towards her and Parker with his graceful, but powerful pace. In his hand were three gold coins, each had a skull on them. He stopped before them. He looked at Brennan up and down. Then his black eyes stopped at hers. They burned into her as if trying to find out what she was thinking. Then he turned his head on its side, a cruel smile came over his face, like a cat, proud of itself for slaughtering a poor helpless mouse. Brennan knew this was the killer they were hunting.
He leaned in close to her. Brennan pressed herself as far back as the pole would let her. He kneeled about a foot from her and said,
“You’re that author aren’t you? Works with the FBI and dead people.” He snapped his fingers and one of the hench men held out her book. “I like you’re stories.” He sighed. “Too bad they’re not going to exist anymore. But don’t worry, I won’t thrust you into the void, just yet. I need to have some fun with you first. Please forgive my manors, but I can’t give you my name.”
Without a moment’s hesitation, Brennan spit in his face. “Murderer.” she snarled. The man laughed, stood up and wiped his face. When he had, he looked at Brennan with a amused look.
“Take the girl. Dispose of the child.” He said never taking his eyes from Brennan. The words hit her like a brick. She struggled and pulled on the chains with all her strength. Parker did the same. She’d never let them have Parker. That’s when she noticed her kidnappers dark eyes studying, watching and absorbing every mover she made.
‘He’s waiting to see my reaction. This is a test! But what for? ’ Brennan wondered, ‘He wants a reaction, I’ll give him a reaction!’ She stopped tugging on the chains and relaxed. When the first hench man came, she let him untie her and push her around, in order to make him think she was defenceless. But the moment the other man got out Parker, she struck. Moving faster than the hench men, Brennan wriggled free and struck him in the gut. She slipped her hands in front and cut the rope with the faca that hench man 1 dropped. With her hands free, she attacked the other 2 and 3, while Parker tore at the hair of the 4th one. She delivered a harsh blow to the face of one, while knocking over the other. Once both down, she jumped in the air and smashed them both in the face with the sole of her shoe. Once the 3 hench men were rolling on the floor, regretting ever touching her, Brennan tore Parker from the arms of the 4th one and replaced it with the hardest kick in the groin ever. She glanced at the blonde man before running out. She swore he was smiling.
Now she and Parker ran from the small room into the bigger section of the ware house. They stopped after a while behind a pile of boxes. Brennan looked up to find a window near the topo, início of the pile. It was dark outside and it looked to be a forest.
“Okay Parker, you need to stay really quiet now. I found our escape route okay. I need you to do everything tell you.” As she spoke, Parker nodded.
“I’m going to smash that window, but it’ll let them know where we are. So when I say, we’re going to jump through and run for it okay.” She hesitated for a moment, “The chances are, they’ll find us, so if that’s the case, I’ll hold them back, while you run. You need to find a road and follow it till you come to a house or someone that can help you. Can you do that?”
Parker nodded, then hugged Brennan tightly.
Brennan found a brick lying not too far away, took aim and hurtled the míssil at the window, shattering it with a loud bang. She grabbed Parker, climbed a few boxes lowered him as far down the outside mural as she could. Luckily, he only dropped about a metre. Brennan dropped and landed perfectly before urging Parker on as fast as he could go.
For a while she heard nothing behind them. Just the pounding of their feet against the ground, the whipping of plants against their face and howl of the wind. Then, as if he appeared out of thin air, the blonde man was just behind her. Fear and shock ran through her. ‘How did he find us so quick!?’
“Run Parker!” Brennan yelled at him. “Keep going and don’t turn back!”

Then a strong hand grabbed her and yanked her back. She screamed in pain as she hit the ground with a great force. The man stood over her and looked down on her. He wasn’t panting like Brennan, but he seemed a bit puffed from his flight to catch them. Hench men came from behind him and took her por the arms. Brennan struggled and struck out at them, but they were ready this time and held her down. “Let me go!” she ordered. She used their hold on her against them; she twisted and struck one in the leg. The blond man laughed. Brennan had no idea why her resistance amused him.
“Shall we get the boy?” asked one of them.
Their master pondered it for a moment, the shook his head. “Leave him.”
Then he pointed at Brennan and said, “I like her. She bites, and she’s hot. Do with her as you wish, but don’t kill her and make sure she doesn’t escape again.” Then he walked away, leaving her at the mercy of the hench men she hurt.
Brennan wished Booth was there to protect her. He always there when she needed him. She remembered his comforting touch and the sound of his voice. She wanted him now mais than ever. She loved him. Hardly a dia went por when por when she didn’t. Now she wasn’t sure if she’d ever see him again.
Tears formed in her eyes, but she wouldn’t let the men around her see her weakness. Brennan was locked back up. She was alone, cold, hungry and scared. But the only thing she wanted was Booth.
