SPOILER ALERT FOR BOTH THE animê AND THE MANGA!!

So! I finished the animê a couple of days ago.
My expectations for this animê were huge! Mainly cuz the mangá is one of the best mangá series I have ever read, and cuz everyone all over the internet and conventions amor it!

And btw, I have only watched season 1 since kuroshitsuji II just seams to stray way too far from the mangá to me.

So what did I think?
It was such an insult to the characters and the brilliant mangaka that I wanted to throw up!

THE CHARACTERS
Ciel is even mais amargo, amarga in the animê than in the manga. The thing I really like about him is that he is harsh and always stays true to his goal, but he can also lighten up when he is around the right people. In the animê he is just cold! They try to make him a bit caring for Lizzy, but that fails in my book.

The quarrels between Ciel and Sebastian are pretty much gone. I loved how Ciel tried to get Sebastian on his feet and wanting to see him defeated, and Sebastian would get back at him in some funny way.

Lizzy is nothing but annoying. In the mangá she is really annoying till you get the reason WHY! She gets badass later on! In the animê they never get that far, the only thing she does is to get kidnapped and then so nothing.

I have many problems with Sebastian as well, but that has to do with the plot, let's get back to that!

Everyone else are pretty much the same I guess, but they never get the time to develop the characters since they only had 12 episodes. The 3 servants only get 1 episode for their background stories and such. This is really a shame since you never get to fully see how badass they can be or get to hear all of their stories. And what they've done to Tanaka is just weird o_o' he has a time to be normal? This didn't really play any part. Most of my favourite characters didn't even make it in.

THE STORY
So. . . . . . . NOTHING IS CORRECT HERE!! (Ok maybe the arc with jack the ripper)
I know that animes don't always follow the manga, and sometimes I think it's way better that like that. But when it ruins the entire plot and the characters all together. . . . NOPE!

The plot is that an angle have some sort of task to purify Ciel and the world! This ruins pretty much everything, I really don't think that an antagonist is needed to this story. The characters interact in other ways and the story is for a big part out of the picture. The mangá is mostly arcs about aleatório stuff that gradually mover closer to Ciel's past. Here they felt like they needed a plot with an end to it, so they threw in an angel and ruins the contract! And that was my main problem. They ignores what the contract is! The main point of the series is the bond between Ciel and Sebastian. Sebastian might not like it, but the contract forces him to do anything Ciel says! In the animê the contract has an end of some sort. When his "Goal" (not the same as in the manga) is accomplished Sebastian may take his soul, just like that! Something they mention many times is "I will follow you until death" problem is that here it doesn't seam like it at all. And Ciel isn't fully dead at the end either. Yeah, he dies. . .yeah. .
The queen is so devastated about her husbands death that she accepts to be purified por the angel and get a younger body that is a mix between hers and her dead husbands bodies. . . .Creepy! I like how she is devastated, but in a fun way in the manga. And not crazy!

My biggest problem though was close to the end, when Sebastian just ignores the contract, perguntas and leaves Ciel, and then just does nothing. Honestly, I never cared to listen to why he did that, the only thing is that like I said before, the contract is completely ignored. And then you have to sit through 2 episodes of Ciel being all powerless! He is Earl phantomhive, he is not supposed to look all powerless! It completely ruined his character. He is vulnerable in the mangá too, but he quickly gets stronger again, like he has mais determination.

Like I started out, the arc with Jack the ripper is very well played! It is very beautiful and emotional. I really liked what they did with the cinematic record! The arc after that with the indian prince -insert name here- and the curry, caril contest was about to be good aslo! But they ruined it por getting Mina involved. She gets possessed por something and people go nuts. It's not at all as smooth as the event in the mangá where the queen shows up to judge the contest, Sebastian winning, the prince getting hurt por Mina hating him, crying his eyes out to Ciel and then they just end it on a happy note! I loved that arc in the mangá btw. It was at this point that I started thinking in the animê "Ok, what the heck are they planning to do with this!?"

This is all opinion based, as it always is when it comes to anything really!

And I know that I completely compare it to the manga, and that might not be fully fair. But the mangá is such a master piece that it's really hard not too! In all honesty though, I don't think I would have liked the animê even if I had not read the manga. It gets way to confusing and screws way too much with the contract.

Comparing it too the mangá I give it 2/10. It had a very good start, a very confusing and weird middle part and a horrible ending.

Not comparing it too the mangá I give it a 5/10 Some arcs were good, it had beautiful animation and could be very intense! But it still lacks when it comes too keeping the characters up.

I will now go eat an ice cream. . . cuz I can!
Thanks for reading, have a good one!
