Time line: Some point in the past... Figure it out yet?
"Daniel!" Marquez growled. "You li'l cheat! Why do you always gotta steal my thunder."
Jaguar's cacau dark skin paled as he realized his mistake. "I- I didn't know- I didn't realize you- I mean, how could-"
"How'd you find this out?" Will asked, saving the speedster from his frantic stuttering.
"I was coming back from reconnaissance," Jaguar said, "and I heard Spence and Jessie talking about it with the other superiors and Sam in his office-"
"Hold up a sec," Will said, holding up a hand. "You were spying on the superiors? Outside Sam's office?"
His skin seemed to lose another shade. Before the nervous speedster could launch into another rant of incomplete sentences, Will turned his attention to Marquez. "How did you find out about this?"
Instead of cowering as the speedster had, Marquez stood a bit taller, crossing her arms. "I heard it from the office. The superiors were talking about something one of the innitiates had picked up on reconn. I happened to overhear that a robbery attempt would be made on the tower."
"You spied on Commander Samuel?" raposa Cub asked, astounded.
"So did I!" Jaguar shouted triumphantly, only to be shushed again.
Mutt snickered. "Looks like daddy's little girl isn't as innocent as she's made out to be."
"It's not my fault," she said smirking, "The super-senses have a mind of their own sometimes."
Will sighed and shook his head.
"What do we do?" raposa asked. They all looked at her. She stared right back at them, keeping her composure, her gray eyes even.
"We don't do anything," Will said. "Our superiors will handle it."
"They aren't going to do anything about it," Jaguar burst out.
There was a moment of silence as Will considered.
"You heard this?" he said.
"No-"
"Then how can you be sure?"
"He's right," Mutt said, surprising all of them.
"I am?"
"You know the Commander doesn't care about the rich," Mutt continued, "And defiently Wayne."
"That's not true," Will quickly contoured. "The Commander cares about keeping the criminals in their places."
"You know that's total BS," Marquez jumped in. Will looked at her, anger brightening his red eyes. He was rarely angry with anyone, but this was pushing it. "Besides," she added quickly, knowing she had gone too far, "we're already stretched thin. There are only 20 initiates left. My father, or any instructors in this case, wouldn't want to risk their lives on a mission they cared so little for."
She was correct, of course. Initiates in the Pack often when on missions to test their abilities and training, but eight weeks atrás an explosion in the underground- mono rail killed 15 of their brothers. Since then, the Commander and the other instructors had only administrated four mission, all of which were minor and only the eldest of the Pack had been allowed to go on.
Will nodded slowly. "Okay," he said. "We mover out at 1100 hours, after the superiors call lights out, stop the robbery, then return here before anyone notices our absences."
Fox, Marquez, and Jaguar grinned with excitement. Mutt wore a smug look of satisfaction.
"This stays between the five of us," Will added.
They all nodded in agreement.
"Six, actually." They all looked up at the bunk parallel to Mutt and Will's. A red head looked down at them. He had heard the whole thing while pertending to be sleeping.
None of the five below said anything. Jaguar and raposa were too surprised to say a word, whereas Will only looked amused and Mutt, as always, looked indifferent. Marquez simply glared.
"Alright," Will said finally, "six." He shook his head. "A telepath, a speedster, an archer, a faca wielder, a gun-slinger, and a hot-head. Like the beginning of a bad joke."
"Daniel!" Marquez growled. "You li'l cheat! Why do you always gotta steal my thunder."
