“You’re tired. Sleep, love.” I started humming the lullaby . It always helped her to fall asleep. She clasod her eyes and murmured:
“I wonder why I’m so tired. That couldn’t be part of your scheme or anything.”
I couldn’t stop the chuckle. She was so right.
“For as tired as I’ve been, you’d think I’d sleep better.”
“You’ve been sleeping like the dead, Bella. You haven’t said a word
in your sleep since we got here. If it weren’t for the snoring, I’d worry you were
slipping into a coma.” I was good in making you tired, dear. But we had a lot of fun. Actually I made my best to make this strange honeymoon as good as possible, as fun and romantic as possible. In fact she didn’t sleep so quiet as I said – she was shouting sometimes and she was so tense sometimes. I couldn’t help it, but if she would have something to tell me – she didn’t.
“I haven’t been tossing? That’s weird. Usually I’m all over the cama when I’m having nightmares. And shouting.”
“You’ve been having nightmares?” I started to worry. I didn’t want her to have any nightmares or anything else that makes her unhappy.
“Vivid ones. They make me so tired. I can’t believe I haven’t been babbling about them all night.”
“What are they about?” The worry became bigger.
“Different things—but the same, you know, because of the colors.”
“Colors?” That was something really weird.
“It’s all so bright and real. Usually, when I’m dreaming, I know that I am. With these, I
don’t know I’m asleep. It makes them scarier.”
Ok, there has to be something that scares my love. We’ve been to lots of scary moments like dealing with the vampire army and protecting her for Victoria and Volturi of course. She didn’t have normal human life with me. Her life was full of nightmares. “What is frightening you?”
She shuddered slightly. “Mostly . . .” She hesitated.
“Mostly?” I prompted. She was silent for a moment.
“The Volturi,” She whispered. I hugged her tighter.
“They aren’t going to bother us anymore. You’ll be immortal soon, and they’ll have no reason.”
I was ready to shield her from all world and that evil clan won’t show up again. My sweet angel was thoughtful for a minute. I felt so human with her. All these human feelings returned to me, when I met her: love, jealousy, anger, protection, guilt, sadness, happiness and in this moment I wanted to ease her thoughts and to make her feel better. I wished so much to hear her thoughts, to know exactly what is bothering her, why does she seem so sad and worried.
“What can I do to help?”
She shook it off. “They’re just dreams, Edward.”
“Do you want me to sing to you? I’ll sing all night if it will keep the bad dreams away.”
“They’re not all bad. Some are nice. So… colorful. Underwater, with the peixe and the coral. It all seems like it’s really happening—I don’t know that I’m dreaming. Maybe this island is the problem. It’s really bright here.”
“Do you want to go home?” I didn’t really want to end our honeymoon so soon, but her will was the most important for me. Her happiness was the most important in this world for me.
“No. No, not yet. Can’t we stay awhile longer?”
“We can stay as long as you want, Bella,” I promised her.
“When does the semester start? I wasn’t paying attention before.”
I sighed. I started humming again and she was asleep in seconds. But when she was already asleep, and my worry about her was over, her warm body with this driving me crazy underwear starter it’s torture again. Her warms and scent was surrounding me like a halo. The light were off, but with me vampire vision I saw every detail of this silky thing, that Bella was wearing. minutos passed slowly and I was struggling with the will to hug her tightly to me and to kiss her warm soft lips with a hunger that was killing me. But if I won the struggle against my hunger, I have no right to lose a struggle against the lust. As she moved, I noticed her disappearing bruises and it calmed me down, bringing the feeling of guilt and recalling the horror, when I first noticed them on her arms. The night was going very slowly and I felt losing my control again, as she moved her arms to place them on my chest. She placed her head onto her hands and her heartbeat started accelerating. Her breathing became faster and heavier.
“Edward…oh, Edward” She sighed, sleeping. It made me falling into memories of our first night in the white bedroom. Her moans and sights, her touch… Her arms were so warm, her breathing against my skin sent electric currents through my whole body.
“Edward….” She murmured again. Her sweet scent was making me lose my mind. I stopped breathing. I had an idea to leave her for a moment and to go out for some fresh air that could clear my mind, when suddenly, Bella opened her eyes and gasped.
“Bella?” I whispered, my arms tight around her, shaking her gently.
“Are you all right, sweetheart?”
“Oh,” she gasped again. And after a second, tears started building in her eyes and streaming down her cheeks. Oh my God! I was always helpless, when it came to tears.
“Bella!” I said alarmed. “What’s wrong?” I started wiping the tears from her face, but she didn’t stop crying, tears were streaming again.
“It was only a dream.” She said with the low sob that broke in her voice. She was so upset. I didn’t know what to do. How to help her?
“It’s okay, love, you’re fine. I’m here.” I was trying to ease her. “Did you have another nightmare? It wasn’t real, it wasn’t real.”
