Bella is orphaned when she was 2 when her parents burned up in a house fire, she ends up in a foster início when a family called the Swans adopt her. Cassie cisne is her new step-sister who is like her protecter from the bullies at school and just everyday people, she meets Vincent an older boy that always watches Cassie and wants to be with her. As Bella and Cassie age they see that Vincent never does, Cassie is taken aback when she discovers that Vincent is a vampire that got turned back in the 20's. As a surprise Cassie doesn't care so she asks him to turn her so that they can be together forever, he promises her that when she turns 19, but that promise is broken. On Cassie's 17th birthday she and Bella take a walk and they are attacked por three vampiros and one male one bit Cassie and turned her, before one could get Bella Vincent came and shined a light in the vampiros faces, they were some how affected por this and ran Vincent told Bella to go início and stay there. When their mother cuts her finger on a faca Cassie flips out and attacks killing her mother and killing her father as a witness; Bella sees everything. Vincent gets Cassie and throws her down into the celler and locks it with a vampire resistant lock, Vincent gets the bodies and puts them in the forest and kills a near urso and covers the scene with urso tracks to make it look like a animal attack. Vincent, Cassie and Bella have to mover immediatly, Vincent looks up alot of towns and finds one Forks, Washington, they pack up all they can and get out, Bella and they all take turns driving until they got there and mover into an abandoned house. Cassie is making a full recover of the incident and starts back to her teasing and fun ways, Vincent shows Cassie a new prey; animals. As there packing Cassie discovers that she has a gift, the ability to mover abjects with the mind.
The book starts off when there leaving town and going to Forks.
They start school the seguinte dia and realize that there not the only vampiros in town, the Cullens are there and they see that also, along with the story line when Edward and Bella have Bio together, when he ignores her, when they talk for the first time, when he saves bella from the van, when there at the hospital and Cassie steals bloodbags 'I amor my A positives, anything negative gets me depressed'.'
When Bella is at Port Angelas and he saves her, follwed por the meadow and the kiss and Cassie and Vincent are there in the Meet the Cullens chapter. At the Baseball chapter Cassie comes face to face with the man that changed her and the two other vampiros that were there, Cassie uses her gift to fling them back so Bella and Edward can get a head start. After the whole inciddent she smiles as she sees Bella and Edward kiss in the hospital and make up and at prom she seeas them dance and feel like Bellas whole again. When their danceing Bella tells Edward the whole venom spread thing and he gets angry telling her that he will never and also telling her that he will stay with her and his lips went to Bella's nck cause her blood to quick speed.
