Desperately, I tried to curve my shield away from Kate; but Garrett rolled over onto the floor before I could try – his face paler than possible even for a vampire. He shook his head slightly dazed then jumped up and tried to reach for Kate before she could get any further. But his hands grasped around thin air. Kate was already running. “NO!” Edward shouted! His voice was echoed por Tanya. Zafrina had given her back her sight and she was close behind Kate now. Suddenly, they were swallowed into an ocean of Black and Grey cloaks. “Jake, it’s starting – please just go. Take Renesmee and run. Keep her safe. If I don’t make it out – you know what to do. Please, take care of her for me.” I whispered quietly into Jake’s ear. Before I could do anything more; Edward, Zafrina and Benjamin were at my side in an instant. I heard Jake whimper slightly, then nod his head and run in the opposite direction, faster than I’d ever seen him run before. “Kate!” Garrett shouted and ran into the black chaos. “Carlisle, it’s starting.” Edward shouted over to his father. Carlisle nodded quickly once in response and immediately began shouting instructions to everyone.
“Bella, you need to try and keep your shield up for as long as possible – we need to try and stay protected from Jane and Alec. Without them, the Volturi are much less powerful.” Edward talked to me directly, a business like look on his face, shadowed with fear and horror. “Zafrina, we need you to blind everyone, just like we practiced. This should make the fight completely physical and we have a strong advantage there. Benjamin, try and create as much chaos for them as possible without disadvantaging anyone here. I know that sounds…” Edward stopped a strange look across his face. It was a mixture of pain, fear and… relief? “Alice.” He breathed almost silently. As soon as he said her name, I saw her. Her petite figure was running across the field along side a tall, horrified man. She came straight to us. She gave me a meaningful look. “Did you…” She said “Yes. J. Jenks? I got everything they need.” I replied understanding exactly what she meant. She nodded once and then turned to Edward. “I’m sorry Edward. I’ll…” She began, but was abruptly cut of por an ear-piercing sound. A high-pitched scream. I looked over to the fonte of the sound and saw Kate. The deep purple smoke grew thicker and heavier as Kate threw parts of Jane’s body into the blazing fire... “NOOO!!” Alec screamed, also looking at Kate and what was previously Jane. This was a mistake as Vladimir took advantage of his distraction and in one rápido, swift movement Jane’s burning body was accompanied por her brothers… This was not the end though… Kate and Vladimir and all other friends, even those who had told they would only witness; fighting. “Edward, we don’t have time…” I began. “You’re right.” He said. “Just stick to the plan. Zafrina and Benjamin attack, Bella protect. And I’m going to stay here and make sure nothing happens to you. “Edward, I’ll be okay. Zafrina’s going to protect me. You need to get Demetri. Please, do it for Renesmee and Jacob.” Everything from then on was a horrible blur. Body parts flung in all directions – a deep purple smoke growing thicker and thicker swallowing everything. Deafening screams and cry’s from every direction. I felt powerless. How could I know if these screams were us or them? My eyes were fixed on Edward and Alice. Edward was fighting Demetri and Alice… Alice was fighting Felix... I couldn’t watch this. “Jasper! Emmett!” I screamed. “Yeah?” Two completely cool voices answered in unison. I looked around and saw Jasper and Emmett both fighting members of the guard. They followed my gaze which was now back to Edward and Alice. I looked back towards them and where they were standing near the fire. Another 3 bodies had been thrown on now and they both ran smoothly over to Edward and Alice. “Felix” Jasper called and Felix turned in response to his name. A blood thirsty, red-eyed look was on his face. Alice took this opportunity happily and pounced onto Felix’s turned back. My attention was diverted por Emmett’s cheer. “Dude, seriously. That was cool!” And he high- fived Edward who was grinning and he threw what looked like… Oh Gosh. Demetri’s head. Emmett helped Edward pick up remaining parts of his body and threw them onto the glowing fire. Edward looked up and caught my gaze. He smile turned into a look of horror. “Bella – TURN AROUND!” Edward yelled at me. Startled, I did as he said to see remain’s of Zafrina being thrown into the fire. Oh no, no. No. No. No, no! This wasn’t right, not Zafrina. Not the fighter. Kachiri and Senna were staring blankly at the left over parts of their sister’s body. No! This gave there attackers a chance to strike and almost immediately Kachiri and Senna were burning in flames. I felt a whole inside me. It felt like I had been stabbed in the chest when I knew friends were going to be fighting for my family’s sake. Knowing that they would put their family lives in danger to help try and protect their friends. But this… seeing them… die. I couldn’t do it any more. It hurt too much! I wanted to scream. I wanted to cry. I wanted to tell everyone to stop fighting. We’ve both lost enough already. Just stop. But that wasn’t going to happen. Alice was at my side as soon as Zafrina and her sisters had… gone. But I didn’t acknowledge her until now. She let out a scream and collapsed on the floor. Her scream was echoed por Edward on the other side of the field. I glanced over, unsure of who to help but saw Carlisle and Emmet por him. “Alice?” I shook her shoulder. “Alice? Are you having a vision? What do you see?” She let out another scream of pain and then began sobbing without the tears. Rosalie was with me in a second. “Rose, keep them off us. I need to try and find out what’s wrong” She nodded and began fighting of anyone that tried to take advantage of this moment of weakness. I was amazed Jasper wasn’t here yet. Surely if he can see Alice like this he’d be over here in an instant. But, no. Where was he? I looked around trying to find him. He was looking right at me… but not quite there. I saw him fall just as Edward, Carlisle and Emmett reached him. “NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!” They all cried together as there brother and son collapsed onto the floor. No. Caius began ripping and tearing of junks of his body. Throwing them into the fire. They all let out a scream full of so much pain and agony; it shook the air with fear. They pounced onto Caius – all three at once. They too began ripping and tearing. Throwing parts into the fire. Aro, who was unharmed with Renata close by, saw what had just happened and let out a booming roar of terror! He almost flew over to Caius’ remaining body. He fell to the floor beside his brother and screeched! Edward, Emmett and Carlisle had all gone into a state of shock. They weren’t doing anything! Aro is there – without his shield. Someone do something. “Benjamin?” I said, feeling his presence near me – he was helping Rose with the attackers. “Benjamin.” I repeated and he turned around and saw Aro, sitting there – weak and defenceless. “Bella, I don’t think I can…” He said, but when he saw the expression on my face, his eyes softened and he didn’t look afraid any more. He took a deep breath in and murmured something about heat and the sun… then he stared directly at Aro and that was it. Everything fell silent. Aro burst into bright, blazing flames. I finally, really took in my surroundings. Tanya and Esme each had a hand on Carlisle’s shoulder – both looked blank. Kate and Garrett were standing near a group of the volturi’s witnesses. Slowly, one por one each witness for the Volturi left, all to shocked por what had just happened to fight any more. The Irish coven all stood close together, looking just as blank as everyone else. Tia was now standing seguinte to Benjamin, holding his hand. There was no sign of the rest of the Egyptian coven. They must have left early in the fight or… I didn’t want to think about the other option. Rosalie was now on the floor seguinte to Alice, who was curled up into a tiny ball, her arms wrapped around herself. Vladimir and Stefan stood smirking on the other side of the field. Then there was Marcus, standing in the centre of the field, flagged por the two wives. For the first time I saw an emotion of Marcus’ face. He looked upset. There was no other way to put it – he just looked sad. He two wives whispered something to Marcus to quite for anyone else to hear, and then they left. Marcus stood there, blinked a few times then fled too. I didn’t know what to do… what to say. We had lost few compared to their losses, yet it felt like we’d lost such a big part of our team… Where had the lobos gone? I hadn’t seen them since before the fight. Was Renesmee safe? Could we ever go back to normal without Jasper? Would Alice be okay? Why did she decide to come back? So many perguntas filled my mind, and there was no one there to answer them.
