I went to go see Charlie the dia after his ‘accident’. Carlisle had told the other doctors that Charlie had tripped while cooking and hit his head off the corner of the cozinha table. Charlie didn’t disagree with that. I was surprised. I thought that he would turn me in, tell the police that I had tried to murder him. But he didn’t. When he saw he smiled widely. This shocked me. I know I wouldn’t be smiling at the person who had tried to kill me.
“Kayla,” he welcomed me, his voice full of warmth. His head was wrapped in a white bandage. “How are you?”
I sat down on the chair seguinte to his bed. I watched him, carefully. Maybe the knock to his head had somehow warped his brain.
“Me?” I said. “I’m not the one with an inch thick of bandages round my head. How are you?”
“I’m fine,” he said, still smiling. “Absolutely brilliant.”
I was beginning to worry about Charlie. Had they drugged him up so much that he was actually high? Was my father stoned?
“Maybe I should get a doctor.” I stood up and looked down the corridor searching for any nurse or doctor. But the corridor was empty.
“I’m fine,” Charlie assured me. “Really.”
I sat back down and watched him carefully.
“So, Kayla, where have you been staying?”
“With Edward.”
“That’s great,” Charlie beamed at me. His eyes were all crinkly and shining with happiness. I was sure he was stoned.
“Maybe I should get someone Charlie,” I said, standing up again. “Really, you’re not right.”
“I’m fine,” he said, loudly. “Sit down.”
“I just said I stayed with Edward. You said that was great. You don’t like Edward. You want us to be on separate continents. You are not fine.”
“I’m just a little happy,” Charlie waved his hand dismissively.
“A little happy? I could say I have sixteen tattoos, eleven piercings and I’m pregnant and you would wish me good luck on my job interview! You are mais than a little happy. You’re stoned!”
“I am not.”
“Charlie. How much drugs did they give you?”
“None actually,” Charlie said. “I have no drip, see?”
He didn’t have a drip but that didn’t mean he couldn’t have been injected with the drugs. But maybe was actually just happy. Maybe I had knocked some sense into him. Or he was brain damaged. Did he even remember that Edward was a vampire?
“Charlie,” I said. “Do you know that Edward’s a vampire?”
Charlie’s eyes were, confused. Then he nodded.
“Do you know he’s a vampire?” he asked in a stage whisper.
I rolled my eyes. He was trying to be funny.
“I’m confused,” I sat down again. “Since when were you happy with Edward?”
“Since yesterday,” he said, his smile gone.
“What do you mean?” I asked, tentatively.
“You were going to leave me,” he said. “You were going back to England because I was being a right asshole. I realised it’s time to let you make your own mistakes.”
“This isn’t a mistake,” I said, fiercely. “We amor each other.”
“Of course you do,” he agreed. “For now. I just have to wait until you two get bored with each other. It’s only a matter of time.”
I glared at him but didn’t say anything. I wasn’t going to get bored with Edward and I was sure Edward wouldn’t get bored with me. But on the bright side - at least he was letting us see each other.
“Oh, Dr Cullen,” Charlie was smiling again.
I looked at the door of his room and saw Carlisle and Edward there. I smiled at both of them and Edward was close to laughing. I think I knew why. Charlie was grinning from ear to ear at the two Cullens. I was beginning to get scared.
“Have you drugged him?” I asked Carlisle, watching Charlie grinning.
“Just a little,” Carlisle smiled. “Just to take the pain away.”
“Not enough to do any damage?”
“No.”
“Damn,” I said. If Charlie was like this drugged up I want to keep it that way.
“Are you ready to go?” Edward asked me.
“Yeah,” I stood up. “Bye, Charlie.”
“Don’t I get a kiss?” Charlie asked, jutting out his cheek.
I quickly kissed his cheek and ran to Edward.
“Help me,” I whispered to him.
Edward only smiled and took my hand. Carlisle walked over to Charlie and began to ask him some general questions.
I waved quickly at Charlie before I pulled Edward out of the room. We were only two paces away from Charlie’s room before we heard Carlisle’s worried voice.
“Charlie? Charlie? Can you hear me? Charlie?”
Edward and I turned to each other at the same time. He registered my worried eyes and tried to go back to the room but I wouldn’t move. I didn’t want to go in. I didn’t want to see what was happening. I didn’t want to but Edward dragged me in. Charlie’s entire body was shaking and his eyes were rolled back into his head. Carlisle was trying to hold him still but Charlie was shaking too violently.
“Kayla,” Edward was holding my hand tightly. He knew I wanted to run to Charlie and he was trying to hold me back.
“Charlie?” I said, loudly.
Edward put his other hand on my arm. He knew what I was going to do. Two nurses ran into the room and started working on Charlie. One turned him onto his side and held him there. Another had a tray of needles and drugs in her hand. She held it out to Carlisle.
“Charlie!” I screamed.
I tried to run to Charlie but Edward wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me back.
Carlisle was now injecting Charlie with whatever drug was in the needle. I slapped at Edward’s hand but I might as well have hit a mural for all it did. Charlie’s shaking began to slow and finally stopped. His eyes shuddered shut and he went limp.
“I need him booked in for a CAT scan ASAP.” Carlisle put the needle back in the tray.
One of the nurses nodded and left the room.
“He will need an IV drip,” Carlisle said to the other nurse.
She nodded but before she left she stopped in front of me.
“Are you ok?” she asked me.
Edward relaxed his grip and positioned me behind him.
“She’s fine,” he smiled sweetly at the nurse. “Just a bit shocked.”
She nodded wisely and left.
Edward was wrong. I wasn’t a bit shocked. I was a lot shocked. I had just witnessed Charlie have a fit and now Charlie was unconscious. He had to have a CAT scan. He could have something wrong with his brain. It was my fault.
“Kayla,” Edward murmured.
Carlisle walked over to us.
“It’s nothing to worry about,” Carlisle assured me. “It isn’t uncommon for patients with head injuries to fit.”
“Right after they receive the head injury,” I said.
“Yes but it isn’t uncommon even a dia after,” Carlisle said.
I nodded. I had to trust Carlisle. He had been a doctor for years and years. He was right. He had to be.
“He is,” Edward whispered softly in my ear.
“Don’t worry, Kayla,” Carlisle spoke sincerely. “I will take care of him personally and I promise you he will recover.”
I nodded.
“Come on,” Edward took my hand. “Let’s go. Charlie needs to rest.”
“Yes,” Carlisle agreed. “You should go and calm down. Get your head around this.”
I nodded again and let Edward steer me out of Charlie’s room.
“Kayla,” he welcomed me, his voice full of warmth. His head was wrapped in a white bandage. “How are you?”

Last born of the clan
First one to be free
Lived inside a house
Beneath the hanging tree
Loved them deadly nights
That chilled him to the bone
Words were cried at night
In unforgiving tones
Blood of his men was gone beneath snow
He picked up his faca and his bow
Killer of Jonathan Low
Violence from without
And anger from within
Crawling through the fields
Informing seguinte of kin
They all turned their backs
But they all knew his name
And if he could return
They'd probably do the same
Blood of his friends was gone beneath snow
For all that I know, he died
Killer of Jonathan Low
The blood of his friends was gone beneath snow
For all that I know, he died

The moon is always full for us
The road is always clear
That's not what you want to hear
One is born so one can die
You must wait a real long time
That's mais than you can bear
And the days will come and go
And the band will march alone
Till the dia you cast a shadow
And it's nothing like your own
Rolling in on a burning tire
You're gonna set my house on fire
Just to show me that you were there
flores raised up like a snake
You will raise to leave me bait
And always, always take
And the days will come and go
And the band will march alone
Till the dia you cast a shadow
And it's nothing like your own

That’s not what you want to hear
That’s not what you want to hear
I think I know what’s on your mind
A couple words, a great divide
Waiting in the wings, a small respite
Crowding up the foreground from behind
Even though you’re the only one I see
It’s the last catastrophe
Place your bets on chance and apathy
Take anything you want, it’s fine
Keep up the slow life for the night
Don’t take it back, I’ll just deny
This constant noise all the time
Even though you’re the only one I see
It’s the last catastrophe
Place your bets on chance and apathy
From the wind in front of me
Even though you’re the only one I see

From the wind in front of me
Even though you’re the only one I see
When these pillars get put down
It will be you who wears the crown
And I’ll owe everything to you
Oooohh
Oooohh
How much pain has cracked your soul
And how much amor would make you whole
You’re my guiding lightning strike
I can’t find the words to say
They’re overdue
I’ve traveled half the world to say
I belong to you
Oooohh
Oooohh
And she attacks me like a Leo
When my coração is dividido, dividir like Rio
And I assure you my debts are real
I can’t find the words to say
When I’m confused
I traveled half the world to say
You are my muse
Oooohh

Should never think
What’s in your heart
What’s in our home
And so I won’t
And you’ll learn to hate me
Still call me baby
Oh, love
So call me por my name
And save your soul
Save your soul
Before you’re too far gone
Before nothing can be done
Try to decide when
She’ll lie in the end
Ain’t got no fight in me
In this whole damn world
Tell you to hold off
Choose to hold on
It’s one thing that I’ve known
Once I put my casaco on
Coming out in this all wrong, ooh
She’s standing outside holding me
Saying oh please
I’m in love
I’m in love
Girl save your soul, ooh
Save your soul
Before you’re too far gone
And before nothing can be done
‘Cause without me
You got it all
So hold on
Without me you got it all
Hold on
Without me you got it all
Without me you got it all
