John Barrowman confirms Torchwood return talks are happening

Actor John Barrowman has some good news for Torchwood fans - the show could be returning.

The actor - who currently stars in The CW\'s superhero series Arrow, The Flash and DC\'s Legends of Tomorrow in a historic series regular contract - revealed that discussions to bring the show back are happening.

Speaking at San Diego Comic Con over the weekend, he said: "I have a phone conversation on Monday to see how we can get it back on television.

"The fans know me well enough, I\'m only going to say it if I mean it and believe it."

The show, which began on BBC Three before being moved up to BBC Two and then BBC One where it became one of the highest rated original dramas on the channel with the Children of Earth series, changed its format almost constantly.

It was last seen on screen as a co-production between the BBC and US broadcaster Starz, but has most recently returned as a series of radio productions from Big Finish.

Speaking on BBC\'s The One Show about a possible comeback, he said: "I\'d love to, keep watching. Keep watching, I\'ve love to! I don\'t know! It\'s not up to me ... but keep watching!"

John made his first appearance in Doctor Who in 2005, and then in spin-off show Torchwood, and continued to make cameos in both programmes until 2013.

Speaking about his next project, he said: "I will be back in Cardiff in about a week and a half ... but I\'m not telling you what for!"

Last year, showrunner Steven Moffat brought back Alex Kingston\'s character River Song for the Christmas special.
