Fine,” Percy said, standing up. “If u want to read about my breakdown from when I was twelve than go ahead but I’ll be in the other room.”
A few seconds after Percy left the room they heard one of the bedroom doors slam shut.
“Let’s hurry, the sooner we finish the sooner Percy will come back,” Annabeth decided.
Even though he was speaking quietly, the other kids finishing the test could hear. Nancy Bobofit smirked at me and made sarcastic little kissing motions with her lips.
“If I ever find her I am seriously going to pound her head in,” Annabeth declared.
“I’m with you there,” Clarisse and Thalia said together.
I mumbled, “Okay, sir,”
“Chiron is probably the only person Percy shows actual respect too,” Conner guessed.
“Not quite. Percy really respects Lupa,” Reyna told them.
“Who?” all the Greeks asked.
Many of the Romans smirked and Hazel said, “You’ll see.”
The Greeks ended up in a death glare contest with the Romans.
“Anyway . . .” Katie trailed off, grabbing the book.
“I mean . . .” Mr. Brunner wheeled his chair back and forth, like he wasn’t sure what to say. “This isn’t the right place for you. It was only a matter of time.”
“Oh, Chiron, Chiron, Chiron,” Rachel muttered, shaking her head. “Now you’re only making it worse.”
My eyes stung.
Everyone was a bit surprised. No one thought they’d have to read about Percy crying in the books.
Here was my favorite teacher, in front of the class, telling me I couldn’t handle it. After saying he believed in me all year, now he was telling me I was destined to get kicked out.
“Harsh,” Will suggested.
“You didn’t have to watch it,” Grover scoffed.
“Right,” I said, trembling. “No, no,” Mr. Brunner said. “Oh, confound it all. What I’m trying to say . . . you’re not normal, Percy. That’s nothing to be-”
“Yeah, that’s not really helping,” Nico shook his head.
“Thanks,” I blurted. “Thanks a lot, sir, for reminding me.”
“Uh, oh,” Frank muttered.
“Percy-” But I was already gone.
“Percy!” Annabeth called. “You can come out now!”
Percy slowly walked into the living room. Before he sat down, he said, “If anyone tries making fun of me, they will face Riptide and I will not hold back.”
Everyone except Jason, Piper, and Leo gulped and looked slightly scared.
