We all know that The Gifted\'s Lorna, aka Polaris (Emma Dumont) is the biological daughter of famed
villain Magneto, but until recently we haven\'t found out much about how deep that relationship goes.
Beyond being aware that her father existed (and that she inherited his powers over metal), Lorna hasn\'t had much to say about how Magneto factored into her life before the X-Men and The Brotherhood bailed, leaving the entire mutant society behind.
Luckily, we\'ll get some teases about Lorna\'s history with her biological dad in the Season 1 finale.
"She does know who her father is, 100 percent who her true biological father is, but he was never around, which is really, really sad and heartbreaking and terrible," Dumont told TV Guide. "We find out in the finale that he made gestures to her throughout her life."
Whatever these "gestures" are, we can\'t imagine that Lorna was too receptive to them, especially considering it seems like he expected her to one day join his side in the mutants\' fight against humans.
"It almost seems like to her that he didn\'t want to be involved in her upbringing and yet he, for some reason, expects her to follow is in footsteps. That\'s so rude, that\'s so mean," Dumont says. "\'How dare you to expect me to become like you when you couldn\'t even change a diaper? When you couldn\'t even show up to my graduation? When you had nothing to do with me? When you were never there when I needed you? And now you expect me to be the princess of the mutants, some royalty, or you daughter, your princess daughter?\' It makes her upset."
Poor Lorna! As if dealing with the fate of mutant-kind on your shoulders wasn\'t enough, she\'ll also have to deal with the expectations of her distant father on top of it all.
two-hour finale airs Monday, Jan. 15 at 8/7c on Fox.
