Punk Boy Can Sing

    After yesterday, I pretty much had friends for the first time in about 10 years. The movie was awesome too. I was standing at my locker discussing it with Duncan. “Oh, do you remember when that alien said ‘I will kill myself if we win.’?” Duncan smiled and said “Yeah, what the crap was that about?” I smiled and said, “That alien didn’t know English.” We just sort of stood there smiling at each other when the sino for música class rang. I walked into the classroom and saw Duncan was in that class too. “Ok, Miss Gray and Mr. Joan, please come up front.” The teacher, Mr. K, said. Surprise, surprise, Duncan’s last name is Joan! “Now everyone in this class is required to be in the musical for winter. So its duet time!” Then the música started to a tune I was very familiar with:

    It ended with me and Duncan just staring at each other. He was an amazing singer. Suddenly the whole class burst into applause. “Ok I think its very obvious who gets the leading roles! Congratulations Duncan and Gwen!” I sort of got scared because I didn’t know how my parents would react. But it wasn’t enough fear to stop me from teasing Duncan. “Ha, ha! You have to sing in front of the school!” I said. “So do you.” He retorted. Oh my God. My parents. “Got to go!” I squeaked.

    Exactly a half an hora later, I was at my house explaining to my parents about the play. “And I have to unless I want an F.” I finished. I felt a very hard slap against my face. It was my father. “You know you cant draw attention to yourself!” My Dad yelled. I heard the phone ring and my dad said, “Go answer it!” so I did. “Hey, Sunshine.” I heard Duncan say on the other end. “Duncan I-” My father threw me to the ground. “I warned you, Gwen.” And then I blacked out.
