Here's something that will blow your mind. Notice how Mario/Luigi break blocks when they jump under them? It may look like their heads are hitting it, but it's actually their fist. I learned this when I saw a video that showed what was really hitting the blocks. Upon a close up, their fist is higher above their heads, so the whole time they touched the blocks with their hands.
