LadyRem What about Stein and Maka? I know they're around 17 years apart, but they share some common things. Besides being intelligent & strong meisters, they like to study subjects you'd study in school (Stein: biology, anatomy)(Maka: reading, studying just about anything), they've both suffered a misfortune(s) caused by Medusa (Stein: the madness)(Maka: Crona suffered neglect and abuse by Medusa which hurt Maka) Now I know what I said about spirituality and communicating with one another, well this is psychology. And I think I know when I see a match based on similarities and psychology. When Stein and Maka went insane, Stein had it worst because he was very sensitive to the madness. The fate that caused Maka to go insane was the black blood when Crona slashed Soul across the chest. They're both very bright, they're the greatest meisters of the DWMA, they fight great together, even if they do have their weapons, and their interests revolve around studying certain subjects you'd study in school. (Stein likes to dissect and study the anatomy of humans, endangered animals and etc, so that has to do with science)(Maka likes to read, so that has to do with all of the above in a way depending on what she's reading or if she's reading for fun.) They also suffered certain misfortunes caused by Medusa; Stein was manipluated psychologically and mentally, dragging him down the madness and Maka almost lost Soul to Crona and Crona suffered a horrible childhood because of her, upsetting Maka deeply. During their first meeting, it was a set up Lord Death made for a remedial lesson. So when Stein played the villian, it was a rather intimidating situation, especially when he shocked her. He grabbed her by the twin tail, removed her coat and lifted her vest and blouse up, complimenting on her skin, as he proceeded to draw incesion lines. Bringing her up so they were face to face, saying he wanted to turn her skin into sandpaper. When she attempted to take him down with Witch Hunter, he was impressed she could do that at such an age. The lesson did come to an end, everything was revealed to be a set up, but no one was comfortable of him. The next day, everyone sees Stein's the new teacher of Class Crescent Moon, much to Soul and Maka's dismay. Some days pass, Maka is still nervous around Stein, especially when he asks her for a favor while Black*Star and Soul are sparring against Kid. We see they can both read souls like open books. When Soul gets cut down by Crona, Maka is kneeling before Soul, begging him not to die as he tells her to get out. She cringes and shuts her eyes tight in fear as Crona is about to kill Maka. But she is saved in mere seconds when Stein busts in and takes her down with Spirit. Maka watches Stein battle Crona and is impressed by his strength. Afterwards, she's sitting out in the hall, waiting to hear good news. Stein comes out of the infirmery, surprised she was waiting the whole time. She asks him to see Soul. Almost hesitant, he puts on a smile and a victory sign, saying "The operation was a complete success." This makes her smile and she thanks him, taking his hands. She faces him and asks if she could check on him and he says sure, she thanks him again. Evnetually, she sees him as a role model and wants training from him. He gives her advice such as looking for what she's lacking (courage) and how she has to synchronize souls with other meisters (such as Black*Star). She's doesn't want to give up on getting stronger under his wing and they get along well. He is strict as a teacher, but they're both serious. When she was in Loew with Soul and Crona, Stein wanted to go and rescue them despite the madness taking affect on him. (But Lord Death already took care of that by sending Justin Law to Loew.) When Stein returned from hunting Justin, Maka ran up to him and hugged him, saying she was so glad he was okay, and he returned the hug back with a smile. Maka also saves Stein from an attack a Clown made. They show alot of strength and I see some kind of chemistry there. Both booksmart and having some things in common. In that world, not all couples have to be weapon and meister, why not let there be couples who are weapon and weapon or meister and meister.

LadyRem You know, after seeing a lot of stories, especially animes with the main guy and main girl being a couple, I'm thinking about my novel characters being just friends like Jenna and Trevor not being a couple. Her being a human and him being a half human/ half demon whose suffered neglect from his birth mother would be like a twist in Inuyasha or something. Though Jenna and Alvin are like siblings, idk if they could be a couple bc I thought of Alvin ending up with Lily, but then what if it ended up being a twist of Ron and Hermonie except Ron is the klutzy nerd and Lily is the short-tempered but compassionate girl whose talented in potions. Idk, I guess I still have some time to think about my novel characters and their romances. But I like relationships that have a synchronized chemistry based on mentality and psychology. I learned that a couple with common interests, likes & dislikes and have endured things in the similar way mentally and psychologically will have a healthy relationship and eventually lead to a happy marriage if they decide to marry.

Even though that'd be an odd but pleasant twist to see, in my opinion, I think Maka sees Stein as the father figure that Spirit fails to be for her (even though he's an awesome dad), and that's supposedly the purpose he serves, as a stand-in father and mentor. And sadly, Stein actually does end up with Marie in the manga, because she was a person with a soothing personality that helped calm his madness. But what an interesting idea you had~

HGterryb  I have to admit I like so many think it would be cute if soul and maka were a thing but I agree that it doesn't make sense with their personalities. I feel like maka with black star or kid would make more sense. It seems pretty obvious maka has a little crush on soul in the manga.

I agree with LadyRem that Maka loves Stein, but not in that way. I think she thinks of him as the good fatherly figure she never had. Take other people’s ideas and expand upon them.
