Not Your Typical Country Girl Chapter Thirty Five Option 2
Clay's POV
Ever since I woke up this morning my coração as been heavy. I haven't told Harmony exactly about the Navy. That I will have to leave. I just feel guilty about it. I had to do it. I could not wait till it was time to leave to tell her.
I walked into the celeiro and found her working.
"Hey can we talk," I asked.
"Sure thing, what's up," she asked as she leaned against a stall wall.
"You know when I told you I would be joining the Navy after high school, right," I said.
"Yeah," she shrugged.
"You know once I join, I'll have to leave for basic and then get stationed at a base," I said.
"What; why," she asked confused.
"That is what happens when you join," I said just trying to keep it simple.
"But they can't do that to me," she said.
"What do you say that," I asked confused.
"They can't do that to me. I just got here. You're my brother," she said, "your my family."
"I am. But this is what God is calling me to do," I stated, "I have to obey His will for my life!"
"No, stop! I just got here and "God" is taking you away from me," she said angry, "that is stupid. You have to stay here! I just got here you can't leave me here!"
"You still have mom, dad, Dustin, Lance, and Finn," I said.
"Whatever," she mumbled.
"Harmony," I said as I went over to her.
"Leave me alone," she grumble, "go cadastrar-se the... The whatever and leave since you want to do that so badly."
"This is God's will for my life. I can't ignore it," I said.
Harmony ignored me as she continued to work. It kinda sounded like she was crying so I tried to give her a hug. She shook me off and walked continued to work.
"Harmony," I said.
I stood there behind her as she ignored me. I let out a sigh. Thy could not have gone any worse than it did. I looked back at Harmony before I left the barn. Midnight Moon was beside her and Harmony wrapped her arms around the horse.
"Hey Sam," I said as she entered the barn, "whatcha up to?"
"Thought I would practice some barrels with Sal," she said.
"Oh, have fun," I said as I glanced at Harmony who was back to work.
Harmony's POV
I was so mad at Clay right now. I could have him... But I didn't. I know I've been here for a while but I didn't want to go back to the orphanage. I was actually starting to like it here. I had fun. I had something to do. I had a job and it counted on me. I could touro ride.
Sam came into the barn; she didn't really say much. She was being quiet. But she saddle her horse up and left the barn. Her horse was gorgeous. It was brown but not a castanha and it wasn't a chocolate color. It was just brown. His mane was blond. I liked it. But nothing could compare to my horse.
As I continued to work and I noticed Midnight Moon had disappeared. That started to worry me. Then I heard him making racket. I ran out side to see him watching Sam and Sal. They were barrel racing. I leaned on the fence and Midnight Moon leaned his weight into me.
"Stop," I said as I tried to lush him away.
But he kept at it and kept making noises.
"What," I asked him.
That horse look directly at me and then back at Sam.
"You want to barrel race," I asked him.
I disappeared to the celeiro and I heard him start making racket so I hurried it along.
I came back outside with a saddle in my arms.
"If you want us to do that, you have to wear this," I stated.
Midnight moon starting making noise and shook his head back and forth.
"Yes," I said.
I placed a blanket on his back and he leaned his weight into me some more. I then placed the saddle on him.
"Harmony, what are you doing," Clay asked worried.
"Well what does it look like I'm doin'," I asked him bein' sarcastic.
Clay gave me this stern kind of look. The one that Bryce gives me when I'm bein' sarcastic and I don't mean to be.
"He wants to barrel race," I stated.
"How do you know that," he asked curiously.
"I asked him and he was trying to get me on his back," I said.
"Are you sure," he asked skeptical.
"Positive," I said, "I told him if he wanted us to do that, he had to wear a saddle!"
por now Clay was trying not to smile or laugh at me. I had to admit, I had grown close to this horse after he kicked me. Which is kind of odd. Usually, a person would be scared of the horse that kicked them or would never be comfortable around horse. But I just can't get enough of it.
"Just shut up," I snapped as he started laughing.
"Harmony, Tucker couldn't break this horse. I don't," he said as he thought about his words, "I don't want you to get hurt!"
"You wait and see," I said as I three the saddle on Midnight Moon's back, "you just wait and see."
I was determined to be able to ride my horse with a saddle. Hopefully, Midnight Moon would be just as determined as I would be.
