Not Your Typical Country Girl ChapterTwenty Nine
Harmony's POV
It was a new dia and yesterday was the past. I did not really care about my so-called-dad. I was with my new family so, it did not matter about my last family. I have to get over the past and just live. I cannot let my past define who I am, what I do, or what I can do.
I hated not being able to get up and go to work. I woke up early today for some odd reason. I could be sleeping in but no, I just don't feel like it. I smelled bacon, toucinho coming from down stairs. It smelled amazing. I got up and made my way down.
"Morning Abigail, anything I can help with," I asked.
"Good morning sweetie, not really," she said as she flipped the bacon, toucinho over, "why are you up so early?"
"Well, if it was up to me, I would be asleep but I just can't seem to stay asleep," I stated.
"Oh I see. How was the party," she asked.
"Eh, it was fine. They seem kind of boring," I said, "I just don't know anyone."
"Except for Blake," Dustin said.
"Huh," I asked confused.
"You were hanging out with Blake," he said again.
"Oh yeah, I forgot," I said.
"Must of had fun then," he said.
"Not really. Clay, Tucker, and Isaiah said I could not hangout with him," I said as I poured some sweet tea," I said.
"Harmony, it's too early for you to be drinking sweet tea. I thought Blake was a sweet boy when I met him," Abigail said.
"Well, he is around parents," Dustin stated, "but this was a party mom."
"Right, well I approve of anyone as long as you are not doing anything bad," she said.
"Alrighty then," I said as I smirked to myself.
The boys came down and sat at the mesa, tabela just as Abigail and I got everything on the table.
"Hey Isaiah and Tucker., I did not realize y'all would be staying over," Abigail said smiling, "I am glad I made extra!"
"Sorry, it was late when we got back," Isaiah said as he looked over at Clay.
"We'll, I expect Clay to not slack off today," Bryce grumbled at the table.
"Don't worry, Tucker and Isaiah will pay off they're room and food," Clay said.
"I was suppose to work today anyways," Tucker shrugged, "I guess I will get an earlier start then normal!"
"I appreciate it," Bryce said to Tucker.
I sat quietly in my assento and watched the boys chow down on breakfast. My leg was throbbing me which caused me not to be very hungry.
"You okay; you're not eating your breakfast," Clay asked.
"Yeah, I am still really tired," I stated.
Clay continued to stare at me for a little bit longer then necessary and then went back to eating his breakfast.
I got up and limped my way around the kitchen. I was going to help Abigail clean up the cozinha and find out where she kept the pain medication they gave me.
"Here you go," Abigail said as she handed me a laranja bottle.
"Thank you," I said.
I took some and gave the bottle back to her.
"Do you think it is hurting from last night," she asked me.
"No, I think I stood on it too long at the party," I said.
"Are you sure," she asked worried.
"Positive," I said.
"Hey Clay, wanna go to a rodeo tonight," Isaiah said as they walked out the door.
"I wanna go," I said as the door short.
"You can't get enough, can you," she asked smiling as I turned around.
"Not really! I just want to keep riding," I said, "it makes me so happy! I am free from everything. In those 8 segundos I can relax and not worry abut anything!"
I heard the screen door close and in walked Isaiah.
"So, you wanna ride again tonight," he asked smiling his crooked grin.
What was with all the Southern boys and this crooked grin? It was like there weapon of charming someone or something.
"Yeah," I said.
"Well, I am heading to a rodeo tonight. Wanna come and see if you can enter," he asked.
"Pleas mom," I said as I shook my head real quick, "Abigail!"
She stood there with her eyes wide and the biggest grin her face.
"We will ask your father and see what he thinks," she said still grinning from to ear.
"I'll go ask right now," I said.
"So, you called her mom," Isaiah said as we walked out of the house.
"I didn't do it on purpose; it's just that after I hear the boys say mom this and mom that, it just slipped," I said.
"Ohh okay, I bet your leg is killing you from last night," he said as I limped towards the barn.
"I stood on it too much last night," I stated.
"You liar. I saw the way you landed on it last night. It had to hurt," he said.
"Shut up," I said as I glared at him.
"Hey Bryce, can I enter a rodeo tonight," I asked hopeful.
"I was already going and riding in it tonight," Isaiah said, "I can call and see if they can let her ride."
"If it okay with Abigail, I am fine with it. I can't go tonight sweetheart. We got início late last night," Bruce said, "and I am already exhausted again!"
"It's okay, I understand," I said.
I walked as fast as I could towards the house to get to Abigail. She was coming out of the house as someone pulled into the drive way.
"Bruce said it was okay! Can I go," I asked begging.
"I guess so," she said, "is Bryce going?"
"He said he was too exhausted to go," I sated.
"I can look after her," Isaiah said.
"You better," she said, "you can go!"
"Yay!!! Thank you," I said, "who is that?"
"That is Samantha," Dustin said as he came up behind me.
"She has a lesson today," Abigail stated.
"Okay! What time do we leave," I asked expected.
"No later than than 5:30," he said.
"Okie dokie! Wait, I have no idea what I am doing. I don't know what I a, wearing or what do I wear," I said, "how are we getting there. Are you staying here till then or what?"
"Wear something and bring chaps. I will be here at 5:30 to pick you and some of your brothers up!"
"Okay, thanks for telling me," I beamed happily.
"No problem," he said.
"Hey Sam," I said as she walked passed me.
"Hey Harmony, good morning," she said.
Sam was so pretty. No wonder Dustin picker her as a girlfriend. I bet she was smart too. She is smart with horses! I wonder if I will get a boyfriend? Would a guy like me after he knows everything about me? This was a small town and everyone was already with someone.
"Abigail, I don't know what I'm doing," I stated.
"Of course you do! You are natural born rider," she said smiling.
"No but thank you! I meant about what I'm suppose to wear," I said, "can I wear skinny jeans and shirt?"
"You could try. I haven't ever seem any ride in that but make sure you tuck your camisa in. Don't want your bottom showing the crowd," she said laughing.
"Okay," I said.
I went in my large closet with the little clothes that I own. I knew I wanted a short sleeve shirt. I went with a black t-shirt that had light blue stripes running horizontal on it. I tried it on with jeans and made sure it tucked into my jeans. It did it looked goofy without the combat boots so I took it off.
"How is it going," Abigail asked as she came in with a box.
"Nothing seems like me anymore," I said, "I wish I had my combat boots. It's mais me!"
"I hoping you would like cowboy boots but I understanding liking a pair of shoes over any other shoes. So I found a pair just likes yours on the internet," Abigail said as she handed me the box.
I didn't believe her at first. But I then opened the boxed and started jumping up and down.
"Ouch! Thank you so much," I said, "thank you!"
"You're welcome," she said smiling, "I figured you needed to own mais than one pair of shoes."
"Thank you," I said.
"Hurry up, I spotted Isaiah coming up the drive way," she beamed happily.
"Would you help me put my brace back on," I asked.
"Sure thang, sweet pea," Abigail said.
I finished putting on my clothes and made my way down stairs.
"Here are your chaps," Clay said as held them up, "I will carry them for you. Are you sure you don't wanna wear cowboys boots and some looser jeans?"
"Thank you! Nah, I am good," I said smiling happily.
Tucker looked at me wide eyed as he came through the front door with Isaiah.
"Let's go," Isaiah said smiling.
"Now boys, look out for Harmony and make sure she uses her crutches and brace! Oh, and ice her knee after she ride," Abigail said.
"Abigail, I can take care of myself," I said as my face turned rosa, -de-rosa from embarrassment.
"Be safe," she said and kissed me on the forehead.
Abigail had completely ignore what I have just said. She probably did not want to admit that I was right.
I sat in the back with Clay as Tucker sat upfront in Isaiah's truck. The windows were up but the música was loud.
"Are you excited," I asked Isaiah.
"Eh, I guess so," he shrugged, "newness wears off after a bit!"
"Not for me," I stated.
"I can tell," he said laughing, "I don't know what Abigail was thinking when she let you wear that to a rodeo."
"What's wrong with what I am wearing," I asked.
"Did you see anyone wearing that last night," he asked as the other two boys looked at each other.
"No, but what does it matter," I asked.
"There is a reason why we wear what we wear," Isaiah said.
"Dude, you are digging yourself a grave," Clay mumbled.
"I like what I am wearing so I don't care what you think," I spat at him, "it's not your choice to dress me!"
"Oh, I know that! But I would not let my daughter dress like that if I had one," Isaiah said.
"And why is that," I asked curiously.
"Cause she is not dressing in all black just to get attention," he said.
"You want to know why I use to wearing all black," I asked him.
"Please enlighten us with this story," he said a bit sarcastically.
"I only wear black because I haven't been able to wear anything else since I was little! This is the only color I have worn as long as I can remember. I've never been blessed to have nice clothes as you have," I stated, "I got close from the good will when my mom was alive. Then when I was moved to the orphanage I still got clothes from the good will! So shut your mouth because you don't know everything! And don't ever call me attention whore you spoiled brat!"
After ranting like that no one said a word to me. I sat in the back assento and simmered down. Well, I tried to but it did not work at all. I was still furious at Isaiah. Why on earth would he think I was attention whore? What have I done to cause that?
We finally arrived and I was thankful to be out the truck. I grabbed my crutches from underneath my feet and hopped out of the truck.
I went and registered and sat on the bleachers. I noticed there were people looking at me but I ignored there stairs. It was easy to ignore anything.
"Harmony, I can tell you are still mad," Clay said as he sat beside me, "I want you to forget about everything in the world and do what you love. Forget everything that has happened in the past, in Isaiah's truck, and don't worry about the future! Just do what you need to do!"
I looked at him and smiled.
"Thank you," I said as I gave him a hug, "you are the best brother I could have ever asked for!"
"Now get ready and be careful," he said.
I started undoing my brace and left it with him. I put the spurs on my new boots and then put on my chaps.
