John and Paul headed out. On the way to Rosa's apartment, Paul rehearsed what he intended to say. John said, "I think you're ready." Pretty soon, Paul was sweating. John asked, "Are you nervous?" Paul said, "Yeah." John said, "It's going to be all right. I'll be with you." Paul said, "I'm worried that it won't go well. What will my mother think?" John said, "It's your life, Paul. You can't live it the way others want you to." Paul said, "It's hard being an aromantic asexual." John said, "I wouldn't know, Paul." Paul asked, "Then, why aren't you married?" John said, "It's just that I don't want the risk of something bad happening." Paul asked, "What do you mean?" John said, "All right, I'm going to tell you something, but you cannot repeat it. Okay?" Paul said, "Your secret is seguro with me." John said, "Before my band and I became famous, I fell in amor with a beautiful woman named Amelia. One day, I asked her to marry me. Then, one day, she went out for a drive, and she was hit por a drink driver. I tried to save her, but it was too late. I never told tolet, violet this, but the reason I broke up with her is that I could never amor another woman the way I loved Amelia, and if I did, I'm afraid I'd lose her, too." Paul said, "That is so sad. I'm sorry to hear that." John said, "You and my band mates are the only ones who know about this." Once the two of them made it to Rosa's apartment, Paul knocked on the door. Rosa answered. She said, "Hi, Paul. How are you?" He said, "We need to talk." She asked, "What's wrong?" He said, "Rosa, I am an aromantic asexual, and I just cannot keep this up. I can't live the life my mother wants me to live. I hope we can still be friends." Rosa said, "You jerk! How could you do this to me?!" He said, "I'm sorry that I hurt you. I didn't want to hurt you." She said, "I am so mad that I could spit." She made a step closer to Paul. He backed away and asked, "What are you going to do?" She said, "I'm going to hurt you." He said, "No, please don't hurt me." John noticed that Paul was backing up towards the staircase. He cried, "Paul! Look out!" John's warning came too late, and he could only watch in horror as Paul tumbled down the stairs. "Paul!" John cried. "Are you okay?!" Paul didn't answer. He was lying motionless at the bottom of the staircase. Rosa said, "I've killed him. I'm a monster." John said, "I'm sure he's all right, just unconscious." She said, "I wanted to hurt him, but not like that. He'll never forgive me for this." She ran back into her apartment, feeling guilty. At that point, Paul was still unconscious, but he was coming around. John ran down the stairs to help his injured friend.

Friday the 13th is associated with bad luck, but I think today, I had good luck. I have made friends with two kids in band, Michael, who plays the tuba, and Sabrina, who plays the flute. The three of us seem to get along really well. They're fãs of the Beatles and The Devil Wants Peace, just like me. They're so nice, too. They were also impressed with the fact I can play multiple instruments: saxophone, guitar, bass, and piano. When it was time to go home, the saw me and said, "See you Monday, Grace!" I said, "Yeah, if not before then." They laughed. I'm glad that my luck is changing....

My birthday is normally a good day, but today was a bad birthday. It started when I was going downstairs for breakfast. Halfway down, I realized I left my glasses in my bedroom. I attempted to turn around and go back, but I lost my footing and tumbled backwards down the stairs. I didn't get hurt, but it scared the crap out of me. It scared my aunt, too. She asked if I was okay, and when I calmed down, I said that I was fine. If that wasn't bad enough, it was even worse at school. While I was doing my classwork, one of my classmates threw a paper airplane at me. It contained a nasty...

When Joanna woke up the seguinte morning, she felt desperate for food. She stripped the bark of a nearby árvore and found some insects. They were disgusting, but since it had been five days since she had eaten, Joanna didn't care. She drank from the stream to wash the taste of insects out of her mouth. She then pressed on to find her way back home. She found the steep colina where she had fallen. She struggled to climb the hill, but she managed to make it to the top. When she made it to the top, she stopped to rest. In her sleep, she had a dream about the afterlife. It was beautiful, unlike anything...

It was summer, but Joanna couldn't enjoy it. Because of her taste in música and her beliefs, she faced criticism. Not only was she being knocked down por school mates and neighbors, she was also facing criticism from her own family, save for her parents. One day, she said to herself, "I can't take it anymore. I have to run away. I doubt anyone will miss me when I'm gone." Without a segundo thought, she ran into the forest behind her house. For the first three days, Joanna was happy to be on her own, away from all the criticism and insults. However, on the fourth day, she began to feel a bit lonely....

One day, Joanna and Millie were hanging out at Joanna's house. Joanna's grandparents made a surprise visit. They acted friendly upon meeting Millie, but they gave Joanna a stern look when they saw the letters, "L, G, B, and T" on Millie's shirt. Oh, no. This couldn't be good. After Millie left, Joanna's grandparents simultaneously asked, "Joanna, may we see you in the kitchen?" Joanna followed them in the kitchen. That never meant anything good. Her grandfather said, "Your friend's a queer, isn't she?" Joanna said, "They don't call them queer anymore, Grandpa. Besides, Millie doesn't like to...

One day, Joanna was walking through the neighborhood. It was a cold January day, and as she was walking, she encountered some of her schoolmates. They started throwing aleatório objects at her. She ran as fast as she could, and as she ran, she looked behind her. Unfortunately, there was a rock in front of her, and she tripped over it. She tumbled down the hill, into the Frozen - Uma Aventura Congelante pond. The ice was very thin and broke beneath her weight. She could barely swim, and the ice was too thin for gripping. She cried for help, hoping someone would hear her. Just when she was about to give up, she heard Paul's...

One day, Paul and Joanna were hanging out with their friends, Ian and Millie. Some bullies started making fun of Millie. She was often bullied because she was homosexual. They said, "Go get hormone replacement therapy, you fucking queer!" She began to cry. Ian said, "She doesn't need hormone replacement therapy! She's fine the way she is!" Joanna said, "That's exactly right!" Paul then said, "But you all need attitude adjustment therapy!" The bullies were stunned. Joanna said, "Look, if you're opposed to homosexuals, that's fine, but don't curse at her and tell her to get hormone replacement...

As the months passed, Joanna and Paul became quite close. One day, Paul said to Joanna, "I think it's time I tell you something that I haven't told to, well, anyone." She said, "I do, too. I'll let you go first." He said, "You remember that I was adopted por an American family last year, right?" She said, "Of course." He said, "Well, I have yet to tell anyone what happened to my parents." She asked, "What happened?" He said, "My father was killed in a car crash when I was young, so I never spent much time with him. I did spend a lot of time with my mother, especially since I was an only child....

Cedar Valley is located in the Bible cinto, correia of the United States. This small town is full of bible-thumping Puritans. A small percentage of the population is different. An eighth grader por the name of Joanna is one of the different ones. Because she was a dissenter, one who disagrees with the bible-thumping Puritans, she was often bullied. One day, she was beaten. The school nurse said she was fine, but she was really bruised. After school was dismissed, she sat on the bench in front of the school to wait on her mother. One of her school mates sat beside her. He said in his English accent, "Hi,...

One night, I was talking with one of my friends. I said, "I'm going to tell you something that I don't usually tell anyone. It was the segundo worst part of the eighth grade, the part I didn't include in my story." She said, "You can tell me anything." I said, "During the last six months of my seventh grade year, I ended up with endometriosis. The following summer, I had a hysterectomy. At the beginning of my eighth grade year, I told one of my friends. Later, she wrote in one of the bathroom stalls, 'Catherine is a slut puppy.' That nickname spread like wildfire. I'm...

One morning, during the summer, I noticed something wasn't right with one of my dogs. My Labrador, Sadie, seemed very lethargic. She did not want to eat or drink anything. I felt of her stomach, and it was really hard. My uncle took her to the vet, and it turned out her stomach had bloated. The vet tried to empty the blockage, but to no avail. The only humane thing was having her euthanized. As if that wasn't bad enough, I got a call from my friend, Sally, asking for me and Gavin to come to the hospital. I asked, "What's wrong?" She said, "You remember when I was treated...

One day, I received a call that Gavin was hurt. I went over to his house to see if he was okay. He had a big cut on his face. It was deep, but he didn't need stitches. He has some bruising around the cut as well. I asked, "What happened?" He said, "I was opening the car door, and I accidentally hit myself in the face. I fainted when I saw blood." I said, "I'm sorry. I hope that heals up soon." He said, "I'm sure it will." He was left with a scar on his face. The one good thing about it was that he gained some respect. When I got beat up near the end of the school year,...

One morning, I got up, and I opened my bedroom door. All of my cachorros were sitting there except my husky, Diesel. I thought, "It's not like Diesel to go off por himself." I called for him, but he never came. I went downstairs. I looked in the living room and saw him lying on the floor. He wasn't moving. I walked up to him and started talking to him. He didn't respond. I knelt down beside of my beloved dog to check for signs of life, nothing. I fell on topo, início of him and cried. I said, "Diesel, please don't be dead! You've been my buddy for twelve years! You can't die!" I told...

Sometime later in the school year, Gavin's father and mother went on a business trip. Gavin stayed with me and my aunt and uncle for the week. It worked out, because Gavin and I go to school together, and his dog got along with my dogs. That Monday, our school dia started out well. Sometime after lunch, some of our schools mates shoved us in the janitor's closet and locked us in there. It was really dark, and I got really scared. I was on the verge of having a panic attack. Gavin said, "We'll be okay. Someone will find us soon." I calmed down some. Not only was it dark...

Spring Break came, and we got a week off from school. One morning, I got up, but then I fell down the stairs. As I tried to get up, I felt a sharp pain in my right knee. I couldn't get up. I cried for help. My aunt ran to me. She asked, "Are you okay? What happened?" I said, "I fell down the stairs, and my right knee hurts. I can't get up." She helped me up, but I couldn't walk. She said, "I need to get you to the hospital." I had to wait for a long time at the hospital. I could understand why, considering there was a man who had a coração attack there. Still, the fact...

It was Valentine's Day. My friends and I made Valentine's dia cards for each other. After school, we all met at Jennifer's house to exchange them. I was careful about what I wrote on some of them, because not all of my friends understand my humor. The only ones who do are Gavin, Jennifer, and William. The card I made for Gavin was a classic example of my humor. On the outside, I wrote, "It's Valentine's Day. I got you a card." On the inside, I wrote, "This is the inside of it." Gavin laughed until he cried when he read it. He said, "Oh, Catherine, always funny!" I said,...

One dia in January, it was snowing. I said, "I swear it was warmer at Christmas." Gavin said, "I know. It felt mais like May than December." Pretty soon, it was getting really cold. I said, "It's colder than I can stand right now. I think we should go back inside." Gavin said, "I agree." As we were going inside, Gavin slipped on a patch of black ice on the driveway. I asked, "Gavin, are you okay?" He said, "Yeah." He got up, and I noticed that he was limping. I said, "You're hurt." He said, "I'm all right....ow!" I said, "But you're limping." He said, "Maybe I'm not...

Our sophomore ano was a good ano for the most part. Gavin and I didn't get bullied much. The few times we did, we usually took up for each other. One day, Gavin was sick, and he couldn't be there to take up for me. Some bullies mocked me and pushed me down the stairs. Jennifer told the bullies off, and William helped me to my feet. He asked, "Are you okay?" I said, "Yeah, I'm okay." I was a bit upset. When I came home, I put on some Beatles música to make myself feel better. I felt better, and one of my friends even told me a joke. She said, "What is the difference...

One dia during the summer, I decided to visit with Gavin. When I made it over there, his dog, Oliver, greeted me. I said, "Hi, Oliver! Where's Gavin?" The dog led me to Gavin. Gavin was resting under the árvore in his backyard. I said, "You look comfortable, Gavin." I expected him to say, "I am," but he didn't. Oliver licked his face, but he didn't stir. I thought, "Oh, God! Has he passed out?" I knelt down beside of him and gently shook him. "Gavin!" I cried. "Gavin, are you okay?!" He opened his eyes and said, "Good morning!" I said, "Gavin, don't scare me like that!...

It was summer, and one day, Gavin came to me crying. I asked, "Are you okay?" He said, "No." I asked, "What's wrong?" He said, "My grandfather just died." I said, "Gavin, I'm so sorry." I hugged him. He continued to cry. I understood how he felt, since I had lost Pops less than two years earlier. Despite my fear of heights, I decided to fly to Liverpool with Gavin. His father asked, "Are you sure you want to do this?" I said, "Gavin was there for me when Pops died. It's my turn to be there for Gavin." His mother said, "That's very sweet of you, love." On the plane,...
