Chapter 5: Secrets

Monica POV

    My stomach is doing so many flips I lost count how much I’ve been feeling nervous-- heading off to Advanced Concepts of Physics with Zayn is making me simultaneously light-headed, I’m trying to hide my emotions.
    Meeting the boys made my day-- even though it barely started. I’m still deciding whether or not I should meet Adam at lunch, or just brush his note off...
    Then again, people deserve segundo chances, right?
    Zayn and I are walking in silence to class, but I notice people are giving us looks-- especially the girls. They have this expression on of complete surprise and jealousy, and instantly I know I’ll have to deal with these girls.
    I’m about to say something about this, when a squealing mass of girls come towards us-- specifically towards Zayn. He’s caught off-guard, glancing at me like he doesn’t want me to see this.
    I bite my lip, wondering if I should wait for him or not-- why are these girls squealing, holding pens and books and waving them around desperately to get his attention...?
    “Monica,” Zayn mutters, pushing me against a mural and grabbing my hand, running as fast as he can. “I’ll explain later-- for now, run!”
    We take down the corridor, now mais screaming girls sprinting after us-- what is happening?!
    Turning a corner, I don’t recognize the hall-- where is Zayn taking us? I doubt he knows the answer to that too.
    “Zayn?” I ask, catching my breath as I hear mais screaming. “What’s going on? Are you going to explain?”
    He shakes his head silently, biting his lip as if he’s nervous. “I’ll try to explain later but right now we’ve got like, a mob chasing after us-- you know the school better than I do, how do we get to our class?”
    I chuckle slightly. “I’m the worst person to ask that question, I’m terrible at directions!”
    Zayn smiles a little, but he’s still biting his lip. “Well then, I guess we’ll have to just trust our instincts!”
    I’m not sure how good our instincts are, because it feels like we’re running around the whole school-- plus, we’ll be late to Physics...
    I look back behind me-- big mistake, since I see much mais girls screaming and yelling something like, “One Direction!”
    One Direction? I think, shaking my head. I’ve never seen any of these girls before-- they don’t go to the college here, so what are they doing chasing us around, particularly Zayn?
    I’m half scared that I don’t even notice Zayn has his hand in mine, us running out of this part of campus and entering a whole new hall, passing por the cafeteria.
    Zayn sniffed the area. “I know this is totally off-topic, but I think Niall might like the burgers I’m smelling in there.”
    I laugh despite feeling scared to be trampled on, but now I recognize some of the rooms-- we just passed my English class, so that means only a few mais hallways until we reach our Physics class.
    “Zayn, I know the way now,” I say, my breathing in little gasps.
    He smiles at me. “Hm, I’m not sure I can trust you? You did say you were terrible at directions.”
    I roll my eyes. “Unless you want to be trampled on, follow me.”
    I grab his hand even tighter, us running faster from the mob of screaming girls-- we skid down the hallway, turn a corner, rush past a confused teacher, finally reaching our Physics class.
    Bursting in, we catch our breath as the whole class looks at us in awe-- looking at the clock, I notice we’re fifteen minutos late.
    Great, I think, not meeting Professor Will’s eyes. Four mais lates, and I might be suspended!
    I’m expecting a complete lecture on being on time, when Zayn shoots the professor a glance, and Professor Will nods for us to take our seats.
    Frowning slightly, I sit in front of Zayn-- how did he convince Professor Will not to give us detention in just one glance? And what had just happened with all those screaming girls?
    A note slaps on my desk, and before Professor Will sees, I quickly put it under my desk, pretending to read my Advanced Physics text book.

    Monica,

    I promise, I’ll explain later. The other lads will know soon enough about this, and they’ll have to explain too.
    And if you’re wondering, I’ve experienced this before, but I have to admit, it was kind of fun running with you ;) And you’re actually not that bad with directions.

    I smile slightly, putting the note in my boot-- two notes from two guys in one day... That is definitely something to think about.
    Something about the girls screaming and chasing Zayn bothers me-- who exactly are Zayn, Harry, Liam, Louis, and Niall? Surely not famous... right?
    Honestly, the boys didn’t seem like famous guys-- they are totally down-to-earth, and act like normal boys, so what is happening?
    I feel a tap on my shoulder, turning around slightly to see Zayn’s brown eyes looking into mine, him still kind of biting his lip.
    “You okay?” He whispers.
    I nod, giving him a thumbs-up for reassance.
    Honestly? I’m not that okay.

Divya POV

    I’m doodling on my Chemistry notebook, Harry adding in a few doodles as well, like cats.
    He’s not a great drawer, I have to admit that-- I started giggling in the middle of class at an attempt drawing of a flor from him, and Ms. Kinnian, our professor, glared at me.
    I take the pen away from Harry, and he frowns slightly, giving me a sideways glance-- god, his smile! It just takes my breath away.
    It’s only like, ten minutos into class when I hear screaming outside our door, and I exchange glances with Kealy-- screaming? In our college? Highly unlikely-- the security here is pretty good, and there would NEVER be screaming in the hallways with our strict Principal and other professors monitoring the halls.
    I look at Harry, and notice he looks uncomfortable-- he and Liam seem to be having some kind of mental conversation, though I have no clue what it is.
    “Harry?” I ask, whispering so Professor Kinnian doesn’t hear. “What’s wrong?”
    Harry runs a hand through his curly hair. “It’s nothing, Divya.”
    I can tell he’s lying, though-- I can always tell when people are lying.
    “Harry? You don’t want to tell me, do you?” I ask.
    He looks kind of hurt, like he wants to tell me, but knows it might not be a good idea. “I don’t know, the lads and I haven’t exactly talked about it yet, and we’re just trying to keep it mellow here.”
    “Harry,” I say.
    “Yes?” He asks.
    “You’re a terrible liar.”
    Harry gives me a slight smile. “I take that as a compliment.”
    I sigh, pulling one of his curls. “You’re impossible, you know?”
    “Now you know the full package of Harry Styles,” He says back, patting my hand gently and grabbing my notebook again to doodle.
    I giggle, getting another glare from Professor Kinnian-- honestly, I guess I could care less, I was just happy enough to have Harry seguinte to me.
    Kealy glances over at me, and we have a silent conversation.
    Have you noticed they’re atuação weird? She mouths.
    I nod. Liam too?
    Kealy sighs, looking a little sad. What do you think that screaming was?
    I look out the window again, noticing a bunch of girls running across the college’s lawn. Honestly, I have no clue what is going on, and why Harry and Liam look so uncomfortable with all these girls screaming.
    What secrets are they hiding from us?
