November 11, 1998 . . . Mick’s brother Danny comes to Millennium, looking for respostas to his brother’s death. His visit leaves the foursome unnerved -- Jesse, Drew, Michelle and Bill --, especially Michelle.

At Millennium, Jesse asks Drew if there has been any sign of Danny. Drew tells him no and wonders why there should be. Jesse is sure that Danny isn't through with them yet. Michelle tries to study but finds that she has trouble concentrating as she relives hitting Mick on the back of the head with a rock. Jesse sneaks up behind her and asks how she is doing. Michelle thinks that her...

A song she vaguely remembered was playing. And Danny was speaking his wedding vows in the background of that music. That music. His vows sparked her memory ... their dance at the reception, this was the music. She took a few steps into the room and found her gaze drawn to her wedding dress hanging up, the ivory folds laying in pristine perfection.

She reached out a tentative hand and brushed her hand over it. Glancing about the room, ske noted the disarray. The bedsheets were half-falling off the bed. Clothes lay scattered on the floor, on the table, across the bed. She bent down...

Danny was quiet, not trusting himself to speak as he stared at Michelle. She looked nervous, twisting her hands -- she always did that when she was nervous. She kept glancing away from him and he felt the bitterness swell up inside him again. He was a fool! A fool to have trusted her, even for a moment. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Check your emotions, check your emotions, he repeated to himself ... don't let her get to you. He heard her shift seguinte to him, she was standing closer and he could feel the heat of her filling the air around him. He took a step away...

Chapter One -- No Arguments

Booming sirens wailed about them. Varying shades of grey, charcoal and black filled the night air. The pavement was wet from recently fallen rain, slippery with ash and Michelle Bauer Santos slipped every couple of steps on the two inch heels she was wearing.

She didn't care. He was in there. Somewhere. In there where the gunshots had been fired. And there was death. Death hiding in the shadows. She knew death. She had been around it her whole life. Her mother. Eve. The pallor of it hanging over first her father and then her brother after a brutal dia at the hospital....

Michelle sat in front of the wheel, softly humming to the radio. Danny slipped his assento cinto, correia on and at the sound, Michelle released the handbrake and set the car in motion. They sat in silence, a pleasant camaderie filling the air. They were at last getting to the point where just being together was enough, words weren't necessary and there was a comfort level to their interactions that was growing steadily with each passing day.

Aahh, Crush

played over a haunting melody and Michelle found herself cantar along to the lyrics, "... let it be what it will be, don't make a fuss and...

Chapter One - Away From him

He is talking quietly with Bernard’s son, his hands gesturing with dominance. Nino is sullen, a pout ridiculously lush on those lips only a woman should have. He looks like a child, a spoiled child who will not relinquish his toy. Danny stills himself, gathering his patience, fighting the violence of his hot temper. Things are not going well, obviously. I don’t know what they are talking about. I tell myself that I don’t want to know. But I do. I need to know; I need to know how deep Danny has entered into his world of crime.

Thus far he has managed to keep himself...

Danny stood outside the Bauer residence, twisting the wedding band about his finger as he mentally berated himself for his presence on her doorstep.

"This is stupid, stupid," he muttered under his breath and without even knocking, he turned to leave. He'd just taken a few steps when the front door opened behind him and he heard his brother-in-law, Dr. Rick Bauer, call his name. A pergunta and disaffection were evident in his tone, at least to Danny's ears. He stopped and swore quietly under his breath and then turned around, a grim smile upon his lips.

"Dr. Bauer -- Rick," he offered and stood...

I hadn't known that she was back from Europe. Maybe she hadn't even left yet, it had been only a couple of days. I wonder why she hasn't contacted me about the annulment papers ... and then I wonder why she has been stalling about the annulment, but it's too much to ponder and I don't want to think tonight.

I just want to drink. Drink dulls the pain, deadens the emotion I must insist that I don't feel. So I just want to drink. But now that she is here, I have another activity in mind.

I just want to drink and watch her. And he's not here, Drew mentioned that he was doing some...

Sweat lingered upon her bare arms like mercury sliding slowly through a red-hot thermometer. The fall of her honey blond curls was a shroud of heavy silk caressing the skin of her shoulders, the flesh of her back exposed above the low cut of her dress. Pulsing lights from the overhead strobe cast hues of the arco iris, arco-íris upon each golden curl, emeralds and violets dancing across the flushed heat whispering across her face, sunshine and sunburst beijar the ivory dress taut across her breasts, clinging to the curve of her waist, the flare of her dress, its hem twisting against her long, bare legs...
