The ending of lost was confusing....need help!

ok, so between the afterlife world and the real world...what happened?...i mean were they all imagining thenselves on the island, or did they already die before the show began and it was just showing us they're journey??


and someone said they're was a twist "The Sideways world is purgatory, the Island is real, Lost" what the heck does that mean?!?...someone please explain!!

yeah, i was confused too. I didn't get why they were living an alternate timeline if they were all in the afterlife thing. do you think it was like they had to review their life and make changes for them to mover on? I was very confused.

The island was real... :) But the flash sideways were actually what was happening in the "Limbo", between life and afterlife. They were there because they hadn't resolved their issues yet (forgiving themselves, getting past hurt, etc.) It doesn't mean anything that they showed them parallel. They happened much later, when everyone had already died. Like Christian Shephard said, "some died before you, some long after you....". So what we see in the end happens much later than the Island. They meet together to go to the afterlife together and so they will not "die alone". I hope I made things mais clear for you :) If not, tell me !
