I remember visiting this website once...
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
When the ResurreXion news broke announcing the collection of all new, X-Men focused books, X-Men fans everywhere let out a sigh of relief. After seeing the immersion and domination of the Inhumans in Marvel comic titles, X-fans didn’t have much hope left for the Merry band of mutants. But now. Iceman, Blue Team, Gold Team, Weapon X, and Jean Grey will all receive ongoing titles! Jean’s book easily became a topic of excitement and debate for the Geek staff. On the one hand, editor Scoot and I were pretty excited about the X-Men’s leading lady finally getting her own book, while some staffers were suffering from Phoenix fatigue, understandably so. But after receiving additional details about the book and its creative team, this series looks to be one of the most promising among the new lineup.
The series will be manned by new creative team, writer Dennis Hopeless (
). One of the most recent and fan favorite iterations of Jean Grey comes from Hopeless’
, which modernized the story of the original five mutants. Jean was a series highlight showing more attitude, humor and individuality than her older predecessor. This culminated with
‘s seemingly more progressive young Jean, which has garnered a larger interest in the character. Sophie Turner’s recent take on young Jean in
was also received positively, despite the movie’s shortcomings.
This is Jean’s first solo series, and it seems we’ll be treated to a familiar foe as Jean will be preparing for a run in with the Phoenix force.  Hopeless describes the series as “… a sort of trials of Hercules story. Jean gets a premonition of sorts. She’s told the Phoenix is back in play and that the Earth is doomed unless Jean Grey can step up. Unfortunately, the Jean Grey we have is a wildly unprepared teenager. Our Jean needs to level up in a hurry. She needs to step into those huge shoes and become the full-grown badass we all know she will eventually. So… she straps in and heads out to get some life experience.”
artist Jamie McKelvie redesigned the original five’s looks, giving them a modern X-Factor feel.
We can’t wait to see this Jean take on the Phoenix. Despite her age, she’s a more rebellious and confident Jean than we’ve ever seen, and we doubt she’ll be so willing to become the Pheonix host like her older self.
