Well. It’s been a long, long time since I’ve published an article. I use my words carefully - o actually did write an artigo for Saviors. I just haven’t published it. Yet. It’s on my mum’s Air so i can’t access it right now. This is because when i write an article, i really want to be happy with it. I also want to be bothered to write it ;) but mostly the happy thing. This is because every artigo i have written since Teh Itch one has been graded por me against that, and since that was 4000 words of things that mostly hadn’t been pointed out before I was mostly to very happy with my artigos :D But here goes.
This episode was amazing. The atuação was topo, início notch, and has many have said before me, Emmy award winning. I mean seriously. In that scene with where Amber starts singing, it is actually so scary i kind of shivered watching it. And Hugh Laurie’s atuação in both that and in the Detox combined with Anne Dudek’s was the best atuação i have literally ever seen. Even if you cut the Huddy out of this episode (in which case it really wouldn’t make sense but oh well) it would be just about my favorito episode this season. Which is saying a lot, because i can actually quote most of the episode The Itch off por heart. Watching this episode i thought i had almost run out of spaz por the end of it. Then i watched the promo, died again, then i watched the slow-mo kiss, died again, then i watched the global promo, died again, then i watched the new promo, and kinda semi half died because my video wouldn’t load so it just kept on saying “slept with cuddy” over and over and over and over. As you can see, por the end of this i died mais times that Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which is a record, believe me. :But i will discuss the promos later, right now i have two things to do. Give credit to Kellinator and RP-Puzzle, for the mass speculation that happened with them (most of which i just watched, to be honest), because i can’t remember if something i have written here they pointed out to be, and if they wrote it they get the credit :D. The segundo thing is actually start composição literária the article, which will happen now.
“Those people don’t know me, you do,” - because i though “i need you” was too much of a cliché
“It’s late and I'm tired, can we get to the talking part of this conversation,”
“i quit,”
“great, my nanny is off the clock at seven thirty, so, your week off, bigger desk, tighter nurse’s uniforms will have to wait until -”
“you can go suckle your little bastard child if it backs you feel good about yourself,”
“screw you.”
“don’t do this...”
“I’m hallucinating,”
“From the vicodin?”
“I’ve ruled out everything else,”
“We can ahh.... admit you through the ER under a pseudonym,no one has to -”
“I’ll cheat, scam, find some way to keep using,”
“These people know what they are doing,”
“These people don’t know me, you do,”
“She’s not your keeper, she has no responsibility for you”
“I need you”
“Let me call my baby sitter,”
Okay first, the way he waited to talk here was very interesting. It was odd to see him pause and really think about asking her, like he was nervous about her reaction. If she had said no, and gone home, he would be completely lost, i would think. He relies on the constant support of those close to him (Cuddy & Wilson) and if they ever refused to give it to him, he’d be completely vulnerable and would either fall incredibly heavily on the other one or just give up and be confused, or verbally assault them until they helped.
“you can go suckle your little bastard child if it makes you feel good about yourself”
House probably feels incredibly vulnerable at this point - he is worried he is going crazy, and therefore would have to give up either his vicodin or his medicine, and is worried that the only person that can help him because his only other option is his enabler, and seriously what guy would want to spend the whole damn night throwing up with Wilson unless you were drunk or gay? So, he falls back on his main defense, his verbal assault. Even though “you can go suckle your little bastard child if it makes you feel good about yourself” was really quite harsh, i really didn’t hate him for it. His tone had no venom in it whatsoever, he had just kind of given up por that point.
“screw you”
The “screw you” totally made me laugh out loud. It was both half hearted and therefore a really quite awful reply, but it is also the most hilarious thing you can say to the guy you are un-knowingly about to have sex with.
“don’t do this,”
Amber’s quite voice in the background of House’s mind means two things: one, she was in the background, and not the for front. Also, she was worried that if he did say it Cuddy would immediately come to his beckon call and she’d have no chance because it’s Cuddy. This says huge amounts about how House views Cuddy: he (at least subconsciously) knows that if he asks her for something in a time of need, she will almost always give it: he also knows that Cuddy is THE ONLY one who will be able to stop him. As was the girl’s conclusion at the end of Big Baby, Cuddy is the only one who can manage House, and he knows it too.
“We can ahh.... admit you through the ER under a pseudonym”
Bringing up the word pseudonym immediately makes me think of “Huge Ego, Sorry” which is a great link in this scene because he absolutely does not have a huge ego this episode. With Cuddy in this ep he just completely lends himself to her like a chewed pencil, no ego included.
“Those people don’t know me, you do,”
The extent to which she does know him as we later find out is simply shocking, isn’t it? They have been a weird and mucked up version of ‘friends, feelings included’ for over 20 years on and off. Not many people ‘know’ House, and many people make lots and lots of false conclusions about him, arguably there are three people in the world that really know him: Wilson, Cuddy and Stacy. And arguably he has ‘changed’ in a weird Housian not really changing way since Stacy was last here, so that makes two, and that’s an awfully small number of people.
“She’s not your keeper, she has no responsibility for you”
This says two main things: one, House has a subconscious worry about how far he can push Cuddy in a way that everyone notices she IS kinda his keeper because he makes her that. His worry is probably along the lines of “i shouldn't be asking her to do this”, which suggest that he worries that she has better things to do and should be doing them, like how he sends Stacy away because he really doesn’t want her to have to have responsibility for him? The segundo point being that whatever he worries or thinks, she defiantly does feel responsibility for him; both in a work way and in a personal way, as a friend (cough yeah that’s it. Just as a friend). Which is an interesting personal insight towards her. I mean why does she feel responsible for him in a non work way? I mean, most people don’t feel responsibility for the ones you amor unless you are in a committed relationship, and that’s mutual or you’re a bitch. friends have a towards exactly how responsible they are for you: and it’s really not very big. I don’t know; draw your own conclusions from that, I like to see theories.
“I need you”
This is the segundo time we have heard this, and i think we can all agree this time is rather mais serious than the first. He really does need her . Not Wilson, not anyone else, her. She is the only one that can do this job. And him saying it was just so sweet and revealing, and so different from the very mocking tone he did it in two years ago, i really just loved it. It is one of the many, many reasons why we got so much mais than we bargained for this episode.
“Let me call my baby sitter,”
I marked this because it shows her absolute, 100% willingness to put everything before him, and is a huge in your face to her worries about work seguinte episode. If she cares enough to put her baby before her hospital, and House before her baby then surely it follows to put House before her hospital, as she has done on many occasions before? It means that the “I am your boss, you are my employee” thing is a load of absolute bollocks, even though it’s a whole new level. You seemed perfectly down with it in LTEC.
“Hold my hand,”
“Lie down, I’ll get you some tea,”
“yeah, that’ll be better,”
“You really think she hasn’t searched this place for your secret stash?”
“I already did this room, and the bathroom, and your bedroom… anywhere else I should look, in the kitchen?”
“coffee cup, topo, início shelf,”
“it was a test, I already did the kitchen,”
“nicely played, she’ll think you’ve come clean and given her everything,”
“There’s more,”
Don’t! You’re hurting already and it’ll only get worse,”
“House, you should tell me where it is now because you won’t have the will to tell me in two hours,”
“My shoes in the closet,”
“It’s like I don’t even know who you are anymore!”
“Okay, shhh, hold my hand,”
The first thing you notice about this scene is their closeness, she is holding his back, and the way she says “I’ll get you some tea,” was so caring and domestic in made me awww inside :D The pain in which he is going to makes him completely open to her (Skin Deep, anyone?) and may I just say Hugh Laurie’s atuação is absolutely fantastic in this, it makes you feel so so sorry for House, and make you just want to hug him even though he might throw up on you. This is an emotion you can see Cuddy is obviously ridiculously aware of.
This segundo point encompasses the whole of the anterior conversation. IT just keeps on astounding me how much eh tells her, and how scared he his about Amber and his mental stability. He would never ever do this willingly and employ such means as his own personal Cuddy while his subconscious is telling him not to in usual situations ☹
“It’s like I don’t even know who you are anymore!”
He has been forced to do the one thing he hates and doesn’t believe in; change. This change is most evident when evil cutthroat slag whore (or House’s Amber) is sitting there pointing it out, though ;)
“Okay, shh, hold my hand,”
AWWWWW. Awwwwwww. Just awwww, that’s so sweet. The look on her face makes me cry, she cares so much for him, watching him suffer is like torture to her, it’s kinda sweet.
”If you take the pill, you don’t deserve her,”
“False alarm,”
“Drink this,”
“That’s your advice? To ‘Drink this’?”
“It’s ginger, it will ease the nausea,”
“You know what’ll calm nausea? Vicodin. Marijuana. Colna. “
“Oh don’t pretend you didn’t see it… I saw it, which means you saw it. Send her away.”
“Too bitter… already had enough bitter,”
“I’ll add some honey,”
“You’re pathetic. If you want the pills send her home. But you can’t, because that would be admitting defeat to her. *House shuffles across floor*. Now this is interesting. If you take the pill you don’t deserve her. If you secretly take the pill, you don’t deserve anyone,”
*House pauses, House reaches*
“NO!”
“No! No! No!”
The way they are sitting in this scene is wonderful, I think. It’s kinda relaxed and although House is probably ridiculously uncomfortable it is amazingly comfortable with each other. Not awkward in anyway, just nice. Cuddy looks caring – House looks like he needs care. IT works.
”I’ll add some honey,”
It’s a kind of automatic reply that I really like. Caring without thinking. It’s bitter, add honey. Simple. Nice.
Her
Now, not once does Evil Cutthroat slag whore say ‘Cuddy’. Not once. It’s almost like it’s kinda assumed that ‘her’ is Cuddy. Now I know ‘who else would it be?’ but one – don’t tell me that doesn’t make you happy, and two – it’s actually quite unnatural never to say someone’s name unless you don’t know it. Now know House knows Cuddy’s name. So obviously Cuddy is the only ‘her’ in House’s life that could be a ‘her’. I mean if you say it like Amber did, it kinda sounds like she’s referring to this significant other. “Her”. I like it. Also, that was a brilliant example of taking something that is not necessarily related to the topic and twisting it so it is. But I honestly believe that is awesome, no?
“But you can’t, because that would be admitting defeat to her,”
House would never, ever admit defeat to Cuddy. When he does, I will be as happy as I was after this episode, but slightly mais shocked. Their whole relationship is a series of games, for different purposes and different reasons. This is just a whole new one – one that can’t easily be put into words. It’s a game that requires both participants not to ever admit defeat. So the defeat relies on the admitting of defeat. Weird. But I amor it how when he is taking the vicodin, he is thinking about the effects that it has on her. This is what makes him pause, twice. The segundo time mais interesting still.
“If you take the pill, you deserve her,”
Oh My God. Proof he wants to deserve her. Not that we didn’t know before. But having it said s always nice. I half expect Pg & Ohm to suddenly go “NOW WE HAVE PROFF HE REALLY LOVES HER THIS TIME” (they have said it about three times before, I really wouldn’t be shocked if they got hit over the head with it and were still shocked. I reckon if House actually said, “Cuddy, I amor you,” they’d go “OH MY GOD. Now we have proof he loves her!! I mean we know for sure this time.”) Okay you two, now I have said it and made the joke I will save you the embarrassment of having to wear the Wilson icon.
The awesome thing here is he actually pauses. Intense detox pain relief or having Cuddy there? It’s quite a serious choice, hence the pause.
“If you take the pill secretly, you don’t deserve anyone,”
Another cool thing here is that there is Cuddy and then everyone else. He thinks about the Cuddy part first. And then the fact that he didn’t appear to be trying to take the pill secretly. So therefore he seems to have decided that if he is taking the risk of not deserving Cuddy, everyone else doesn’t matter. And if he took the pill secretly, and she never found out that would hurt him. I just amor the implications of this sentence.
“No! No! No!”
I’m sorry, I just can’t help not saying as opposed to the opposite thing they will be shouting tomorrow whey. I’m immature, I know.
Then the stroking. I amor the stroking. It’s so loving and wonderful and he lets her do it and I just OMG can’t describe how awesome it is.
"I haven't lied to you in twenty years,
“Can you stop, the breathing, ”
“Air goes in, air goes out”
“Use your nose”
“You are supposed to feel like crap, you are doing great, ”
“And after?”
“Come back to work.”
“What if I can’t?”
“Opium dependency can make you think you have mais pain than you really have…. You are gonna be okay,”
“You’re telling me what I want to hear, you have no evidence,”
“I’m telling you what I believe to be the truth,”
“With no evidence,”
“You’re hardly the most un-bias observer,”
“Neither are you, “ Cuddy looks at him weirdly, “I’m your hospitals biggest asset,”
“Is that why you think I’m here?”
“It’s why you are hear, it’s why you are lying to me about-“
“I haven’t lied to you in twenty years,”
“Sure you have… which means you just said that because you wanted to tell me what you lied to me about twenty years ago,”
“You’re an ass,”
“Am I wrong?”
“I wasn’t in your endocrinology class,”
“You sat seguinte to me, I cheated off you in the –“
“I audited your endocrinology class,”
“Why would you…?”
“Because I thought you were an interesting lunatic, even then,”
“I’m not here protecting hospital property,”
“We’re alone,”
“We’ve been alone all night,”
“No I mean Amber… she’s gone”
The very fits part of this conversation is very cute, I think. They have just spent all night in each other’s company, and the first thing House says is a lightly played insult that is cute and jokey. I amor them being like this: light, meaningless banter; spending all night together (Which isn’t as awesome as it sounds; and their positions, on the ouch and on the chair she slept on House’s Head…. It’s just kinda sweet. We made a big deal about the chair and the sleeping and the her watching over him then, just because they also slept together this ep (you know, in the other way…) shouldn’t make the staying and the sitting any mais important. I also, I like the way they had the dawning of the new day. It’s kinda odd… because most of the time, things in House mean things whereas in other shows they wouldn’t; but I think in this situation, it would mean something in other shows whereas in House it’s a bit of a cruel jokes. Or a clever analogy. Like, this is dia now, here you go, enjoy your moment – but it will be night again soon, and you aren’t going to be able to sleep through this one.
“You’re doing great,”
“You are going to be okay,”
The way she says this is almost like she is completely determined that it has to be true. He HAS to be okay. It’s not an changeable emotion that he’d probably lie about normally anyway, but a fact. She is in denial, like the possibility of something else is just not worth thinking about.
“What if I can’t?”
House, in a completely opposite reaction to Cuddy is instead inclined to believe that everything will fail and be bad. And eh worries about it. He feels scared because of it. What if he can’t cope? What if the thing that has constricted his life and made him hate himself mais than anything else has taken away the last thing he has retained; his genius, his work? I like it how Cuddy compliments him in that way; he constantly worries about it in a completely non-Housian way (which may explain his disregard for consequences when it comes to work, having to find something that’s completely worth the risk and he doesn’t have to be scared over etc) and Cuddy constantly refuses to worry about this one thing for him. IT works, although she ends up giving rather mais than she gets.
“Neither are you,” weird look
What she thought he was trying to say was completely different from what he was thinking he was saying. The way he regards her have probably been on her mind all night, so when he says something that cold be taken that way her mind (you could see por her look) immediately went to them (as did mine). It’s also interesting that it is completely what he didn’t mean. mais on that later.
”Is that why you think I’m here?”
“It’s why you are here, it’s why you are lying to me about-“
The cute thing is either he seriously believes that’s why she is here or he won’t let himself believe it could possibly be anymore than that. This is probably a very confusing mix of thinking he blew it in LTEC, thinking that why would any person want him after him being crazy and with a bum leg, and very possibly a mix of VERY well hidden insecure over whether people he leans on let them lean on him because of ulterior motives rather than genuine friendship. Whatever it is, he is dead wrong, and shockingly so.
“I haven’t lied to you in twenty years,”
This is an amazing line. We have always speculated about the nature of their relationship way back when, and that is a perfect entry into a conversation about it. It’s also as far as we know true; she has edited the truth, but never actually told a straight out I’m never going to tell you the truth lie. Which I honestly never noticed before that. Also the way she said it was kind of pleased with herself, like he never noticed it either and she wants to tell it before it stops becoming true, like a little kid saying “I haven’t thrown up in 4 years,”
“You’re an ass,”
I swear every time she says this she means it less. I mean earlier this season it was really, really needed and right and OMG I felt so bad for her, but this episode in particular I have just thought either “ha” “you have just run out of things to say” or “you amor him and have given up fighting it,” I have no idea where the third one came from (probably all the times Buffy said “you’re a pig,” to Spike) but it totally doesn’t ruin the absolute “I amor to hate you and I hate to amor you” ring to it which the statement seems to be having.
“I wasn’t in your endocrinology class,”
“You sat seguinte to me, I cheated of you in the-“
Now, when Cuddy said “I knew him” in Humpty Dumpty, I have to be honest in saying that I kinda assumed she knew him as in she had met him once or twice and ever since then I have thought she had met him once or twice and slept with him, and I know for a fact many, many ff writers thought that same. So when he says “I sat seguinte you” I kinda go WTH?!?!?!? THEY WERE friends IN COLLEGE? AND YOU ARE SPRIINGING THAT ON ME NOW?!! Because DUDE! They were friends in college! They sat seguinte to each other! HE cheated off her! That isn’t cowing him in the same way cuddy made it sound like she did. It makes you wonder, were the show originally going to turn it that way, or did they plan for the House/Cuddy dynamic in season 1 and early season 2 to stay that way? For me this brings a whole knew side of their relationship and let’s me enjoy them a lot more, because I can tell you eventually working with my one of my old friends in a bit of the “how did we end up here together?” kinda way would be completely awesome and to be fair, some kind of fate :P.
”I audited your endocrinology class,”
Now that’s a bombshell and a half I will discuss later, but I have to say “I audited your endocrinology class” could sound so dirty if you said it with the right inflection. Like “I’m going upstairs with my boyfriend to watch DVDs,”. “I audited his endocrinology class all night long,”.
“Why would you…?”
Sorry to take another stab at Hose’s complete and utter ignorance here, but wow, how much of an idiot can a genius be?! Hmm, let me think, why would she do that?!?!?! Jokes, jokes you all know I amor him really, although not quite as much as Cuddy is basically telling him she does.
“Because I thought you were an interesting lunatic, even then,”
I amor this line. It’s such a great way to tell someone you are hot for them. An ‘interesting lunatic,”. I amor the ‘even then’. I also loved that after this House finally kinda half got it, hence the four segundo gap between this and the seguinte thing said where he I just staring at her, and it’s kinda sad that he finds it so hard to believe she could like him that way.
“ I’m not here protecting hospital property,”
I care for you. I’m here to protect you. You are very important to me. Any other situation, any other episode, any other words, and it would not have worked. We saw that in LTEC. And again and again we wanted them to get together, to have sex, to do whatever or just make out, and now I kinda see that this is the only way the only situation the only thing that fit and went with both characters. So many different variables, so many chance to go wrong, and there is only a baby’s handful of ones that fit the right way. Like trying to work a rubix cube. In the end I would be unhappy if it had been any other time but now. It was perfectly set up, and this is the quote that makes me think that. It’s a quote that doesn’t make House go “what now? You are asking for something?” and run off, or think he is losing the game, in fact it doesn’t require anything of him, and that’s why they had sex later on. Because he chose it to be so, having known that if he took the risk he wouldn’t end up with his coração run through with a dagger. It takes him 11 segundos to digest this, 11 whole on screen segundos of him being in shock.
“We’re alone,”
“We have been alone all night,”
This statement kind of confuses Cuddy, because obviously she doesn’t have evil cutthroat slag whore living in her head (honestly I amor the real Amber, I swear!) and it seems a bit like a state the obvious competition or “hey, look, we are alone and you have just told me you have feelings for me, let’s have naughty kinky sex until it’s time for you to go to work.,” (<< that is honestly where my mind went when he said that :P). But seriously, in the intensity of that situation Amber blanked my mind, and probably House’s and Cuddy’s as well; it was only in an attempt to either fill the silence or change the subject that it was even realized por House, I think.
"I always want to kiss you,"
“I’ll see you in later, I have some papers to push for you,”
“Thank you,”
“You want to kiss me, don’t you?”
“I always wanna kiss you,”
First, and interesting point here. At 00:42 the jaqueta gets put on, at 00:10 the jaqueta gets taken off. That’s 32 segundos of jaqueta wear. :P
“Thank you,”
Honest, genuine thank yous are not something you get an awful lot from House, to be honest. I cannot remember every having one, although as my teacher’s and parent’s take far too much pleasure in pointing out, I can’t remember anything. He was so grateful of what she did for him, and you could tell in his voice and his caring look.
”You want to kiss me, don’t you?”
You know, when she said that I don’t think she realized what he actually intended to do with her at all ;) But it was easy to tell, she could have left, he could have left her to leave, but instead he stood there almost stopping her from leaving.
“I always want to kiss you,”
When I heard that line, I spazzed mais than anything ever and watched the promo all dia because that is huge and he has never said anything like it and he would never say it to anyone else! Also, loving the contrast between House Divided’s “I don’t want Cameron,” to “I always want to kiss you,”. There isn’t really much you can say about this, but for the fact that it is beautiful and amazing, and the only time we have ever seen House so open, and only because earlier Cuddy said “I’m not here to protect the hospital’s property”.
Can I just say the sex is amazing (whey) and every single time I watch it, it gets hotter and mais awesome and i could watch it every minutos of every dia of forever until I could reenact it , which would be kinda sad. I do not care we only got 10 like 20 segundos of it, in fact I really couldn’t care less, because as you can see the episode I just reviewed has the best and most important Huddy scenes in it ever in a collection (you may prefer other single ones, but as an episode) and I am 100% happy with it. Although it would kind of be interesting if after seguinte week’s episode which looks AMAZING someone put together all the clips. You could probably get a few solid minutos of making out por that point :D Anyway, thanks for leitura my ridiculously long artigo which was probably very boring and a waste of your time, and I hope you loved the episode as much as I did!

The “screw you” totally made me laugh out loud. It was both half hearted and therefore a really quite awful reply, but it is also the most hilarious thing you can say to the guy you are un-knowingly about to have sex with.
