I was curious what everyone else thought, as it came up in a discussion I was semi-having earlier. I don't think children should be censored...personally, when I have my kids I will let them watch whatever they want.

My little sister was around 2 or 3 years old when I allowed her to watch "Child's Play", and she loved Chucky :D
And she shockingly knew that what Chucky was doing to people was wrong.
Then after Chucky, it was Pumpkinhead. Lol ^_^
I had her become a Horror fan early on! YES!

But back to the point, I don't think age has much to do with it, from looking at Alyssa (my sister).

But however, I was 10 when I could finally sit throw a horror film without having freaking...so maybe it depends on the child overall :/

Well some parents (more so than not) like to shelter their children from anything that might "taint" their minds. Of course it depends on the child, but I was just asking overall how people personally felt. And since I always say how I'm going to let my kids watch horror movies with me, I thought it would be interesting to see what other people thought.

I saw my first R rated Horror/Thriller/Action at 9, That was Kill Bill and I thought it was fucking awesome. As for other horror like The Ring, The Skeleton Key and The Exorcist I saw before that and I was all good. I think it depends on the kid though, some get freaked out. But I honestly agree with Heather about not caring what kids watch. My parents didn't and I saw a ton of great movies I loved early on and I'm really well adjusted. I know people my age (15) that still can't watch R rated movies and I think that's stupid, but again I guess parents can do what they want. I'm gonna let my kids make their own decisions though.

well I watched freddy VS jason when it came out mom wouldn't let me watch it though but as I was sleeping in her room I snuck around the corner and watched it so moral kids will watch what they want regardless to your censoring!
so why censor!

I'd say around 12-13 maybe... I'm not so sure because I used to be veeeery scared with horror movies when I was around 12 (like scared AFTER the movie that maybe the monster would come and kill me xD) but soon around 13 I stopped feeling that way and I could enjoy pretty well that kind of movies ;) But I think it can be different for everyone...

But really it depends on the kid and the movie like for instance i have a friend that's 14 and he's terrorized by the mummy
but i'm a totally different case i accidentally saw Halloween when i was 6 and their are very few movies that i'm afraid of now

Parents should watch it with their child first. If they get scared, wait til they're a little older to handle the movie.

Like everyone else is saying it depends on the child. My parents didn't allow me to watch anything over pg-13 till I was 10(I'm 21 now)when my brother 16 begged my parents to let me watch Halloween(1978) hoping to scare me, but he was disappointed when I was entertained and slept like I always did. But then I know 23 year olds who still can't watch horror movies.
