madness, with more hungry dragons, underhanded plots, bare breasts and brutal violence than you can shake a Valyrian steel sword at.
But in all the excitement over whether Jon Snow is dead, you may have forgotten where your favourite Starks and Lannisters were when we waved goodbye to them in June. George RR Martin is about the only person who can remember where everyone is in the story, and we suspect even he\'s forgotten a few of them.
Luckily we\'re here to get you up to speed on their situations and whereabouts as we jump into
The littlest Stark (well, the littlest one anyone cares about, anyway) is still in Braavos. When we last saw her she had been struck blind for disobeying the rules of the House of Black and White.
Having finally met up with Daenerys only to lose her, Tyrion is doubling up with his old pal Varys to defend Meereen in her absence.
Game of Thrones season 6: 12 burning questions that need answering from Jon Snow\'s fate to The Hound\'s body
Having spent season five struggling to keep peace in Meereen, we left Daenerys facing down a roaming Dothraki khalasar thanks to her stubborn dragon Drogon. Kids can be so ungrateful.
SHAME! Having escaped the clutches of the High Sparrow, the Queen Mother was whisked to safety in the arms of the new giant Kingsguard knight (there\'s no way he\'s not Qyburn\'s zombie Mountain). Don\'t forget – she\'s still due to stand trial (by combat, with the zombie Mountain as her champion) for incest...
How could you forget? We left Lord Commander Jon Snow bleeding out in the snow thanks to the treachery of his fellow Night\'s Watchmen. Can he possibly be dead? We\'ll have to wait and see.
Game of Thrones season 6: Everything we know so far from plot spoilers to premiere date
Sent away by Stannis, Ser Davos Seaworth arrived at Castle Black but was denied the reinforcements he was sent to find. Given that Stannis is dead (which Davos presumably knows following Melisandre\'s arrival at the fort alone), the Onion Knight will be in the market for a new master.
Poor Sansa had a hard time of it in season five, culminating in a daring leap from the battlements of the Bolton-held Winterfell with (no-one\'s favourite character) Theon. If she doesn\'t break both her legs, she\'ll be off to find the brothers she finally knows are still alive.
Possibly the most tear-jerking ending of season five was reserved for Jaime Lannister, with Myrcella admitting that she knows he\'s her father and she\'s glad, then DYING HORRIBLY in his arms. He\'s headed back to King\'s Landing for season six.

Sansa\'s little brother was missing from season five – presumably busy training with the Three-Eyed Raven, which is where we expect to find him when the show returns.
Season five wasn\'t very eventful for Brienne, but she made up for it by executing would-be-king Stannis in the final episode. Which was really a massive help for everyone\'s least favourite family in Westeros – House Bolton.
Last season, Queen Margaery kicked off the latest craze for holidaying in the Great Sept of Baelor\'s dungeon, which is where she\'s still chilling waiting for her trial.
The Queen of Thorns showed up in King\'s Landing very upset about the accusations against her grandson Loras Tyrell. She was last seen doing what she does best – plotting with Petyr Baelish – and we\'ve been promised more clashes with Cersei to come.
Samwell Tarly was packed off to the Citadel of the Maesters way down south in Oldtown before Jon Snow is attacked. With undead armies knocking on the Wall, way down south is where we\'d rather be too.
Oh Melisandre – we want to root for you, but you keep burning people alive. As mentioned above, she was last seen arriving at Castle Black, having to face up to the fact that all her prophecies about Stannis had come to nothing.
Robert Baratheon\'s former spymaster had just caught up with Tyrion in Meereen, leading to a warm reunion that reminded us that not everyone in
is irredeemably horrible. He\'ll be wanting to get Daenerys pointed in the direction of Westeros – if he can find her, that is.
Petyr \'Littlefinger\' Baelish was last spotted in King\'s Landing – possibly giving Olenna Tyrell some information to use against Cersei. Expect him to be racing back up north to find Sansa again.
Ok, so Ramsay \'I\'m So Crazy\' Bolton probably isn\'t anyone\'s favourite, but one of the showrunners must like him. He was last spotted heading smugly back to Winterfell after crushing Stannis – unaware that his new bride Sansa has done a runner.
