^I agree. I've always looked at the original three medal titles as compliments, but "true fan" feels more like an insult - as in, "you're not a TRUE fan until you get *this* many friends to rate all your stuff." I guess the other titles are just so Fanpopian that this site is what I associate those words with, but I've seen too many arguments about what makes a "true fan" that the new title just rubs me the wrong way.

ive sceen 3 people with ture fan status , & i think the earned that right . those people have been in fanpop for years ... there not just givin to anyone . & now that theres a higher medals , it might just jump start fanpop .

If by 'jump start', you mean that there will be a flood of uncredited & unkeyworded images added for the sole purpose of getting the new medal, then yeah, probably.

For me the idea of a new medal is good, but as 'DarkSarcasm' said the 'TRUE' name is bad. I hope this new medal didn't cause a medal whoring explotion because since this new thing came I see some users adding tons of stuffs randomly and like by the art of magic all the content is high rated in just minutes..

yeah @DarkSarcasm ur right lots crap might get added ... but what keeps fanpop going is the medals , & allot people stop caring after they hit the red medal . just think fanpop could stand to be more active

I agree with @DarkSarcasm too. True fan means the rest of us are false fans? Thats the image I'm getting anyway. I think theres going to be a flood of stuff added with no concern other then an orange medal. Also...orange is a color between red and yellow, not ahead of it. It should have been purple and called something like and All-star medal. More for the fact that you've been here for years and continue to add stuff, and that you didn't quit after red, not coz you added 100+ pictures that have been here for years already. I guess well just have to wait and see what happens next :)

It's certainly very interesting and as I've said I wouldn't mind if there was another medal added but I couldn't agree more with Xbloodjunkie on this.

^^The color thing bothered me too, bloodjunkie. One does not simply screw with the order of rainbow colours! =P

I still think Fanpop needs more than a new medal to keep the site alive, not to mention fresh.

I too think it could bring back the whoring that had actually died down. The site overhaul (you know, the Facepocalypse) saw a lot of people ditch Fanpop, and really only attracted breeze-through users. Fanpop is probably a little too dead right for it to really increase activity.

I don't like the name either. For me, it was particularly upsetting to see how it affected the 'best contributors' box on the House MD club, as before there was a group of us old school people (the people who made the contributions that made me join Fanpop in the first place) and other people like me who came to Fanpop at the same time for the same reasons, and we were all on that list as equals because we all did a lot for the club. All of those people who made the club what it is are now dumped off that list. I just feel like that is really symbolic for all Fanpop's changes lately.

Also, it is pumpkin coloured.

But, as I was told with all my other complaining lately, I should just shut up because I'm too old and stuck in my ways to truly appreciate any changes.

I agree with pretty much most of the people above me. I fail to see the "site improvements" with all of these removals and unnecessary additions to the site. Just not here for this foolishness tbh. -_-

lolz, a pumpkin colored dot, I love it misanthrope86! I hate the whole true fan title. In my world, they're colored dotz. A medal is something you can pin to your chest or wear around your neck, not a colored dot. I don't need a dot to tell me what I'm a true fan of anywayz. I have no interest in medalz anymore. I add a video here or there, otherwise I'm here for the friendz. I'm the invisible fan who fanz iconz, coz it takes forever to click each one. Then the maker gets accused of being a medal whore, which is a very wicked word. But alas, thats another poll Q for another day =P

If this medal was also added, then I would prefer it to be:

True -> Dedicated -> Die Hard -> Fanatic

Because telling me you're a true fan of something sounds like being a regular fan of something.

Well in my opinion we need new medals considering we have the same medals for years time passes and time is important

As DarkSarcasm said I feel like it's more of an insult. I have always been against the whole idea of 'true fan'. If you like something you're a true fan end of story.
