As a rule, I wouldn't make a big deal about this, but it has been bothering me for a long time. I understand the importance of correct grammar, spelling, and the use of the proper punctuation, and what I am about to say has nothing to do with this. I also understand having an opinion that differs with another person, but when somebody makes a pick or writes a comment it takes time and effort to do so. What bothers me is when people leave mean comments about how either their pergunta is stupid or even how stupid the person is for making a pick. The reason we cadastrar-se spots and make picks is because we are trying to contribute to a spot and maybe even make someone smile with something we thought was cute and witty. It is very hurtful to then have those efforts put down and belittled because someone feels like leaving a derogatory remark. I guess what I am saying is that if you don't like a pick someone made or think their comment is stupid then keep that opinion to yourself. It is ok to have a different opinion than another person but there is no reason to make disparaging remarks to other people. There are better ways to express your differing opinion then to put down someone's effort or call them stupid. When you leave cruel and cutting remarks then you are the one who looks silly. So, if you can't say something nice, then SHUT UP!

We're here because we like to join with other people who are fans of the things we are fans of. Of course, if someone makes a "johnminh sucks" fanspot and it gains 9847539873589 fans, my feelings might be hurt...

kathiria82 Even though I feel that when you put yourself out there things like that are going to happen but I still agree with you. I don't often make picks but on one pick I made someone left me rude comments. People have to learn how to use tact when they are trying to get their points across on here. Even though someone might criticize with the intention of helping, it often comes across as rude and makes people feel bad. So like Temptasia said, just don't comment if you don't like the pick.

benji See, I agree with this, but at the same time, I often feel bad because while I try to be nice, often I'm sarcastic in what I say and it may be misconstrued as me being mean. So this is me, saying here and now, I don't intend to be a dick if you've ever thought I was coming across as such :) One phrase is needed: use tact before you act!

tubby2002 I totally agree, it is just childish and mean to insult someone online, that you dont even know. I cant stand poeple like that and dont understand why people do it.

rookyboy I dont want to sound mean now but people who log on just to be mean and rude have nothing better to do, as there is no reason what so ever to say or be mean to any one ever. But this is a very good point that if you can't think of anything funny or nice to say jog on lol.

harold Here's a suggestion, which emilee suggested to me: if you have a problem with a particular link or other content on the site, either report it or send the user a message, rather than posting a comment to that effect. The reason for this is that, if you are persuasive and not just rude, the original poster will likely edit the content (if its anything other than a question/pick), and then you won't be stuck with your public comment that doesn't make sense anymore.

knifewrench I like that "tact before you act" thing that benji came up with :) I've heard more than one account of nasty happenings on fanpop but I have only seen one inpolite message about a scrubs video (AmyFitz quickly sorted that miserable git out, go you!)

kateliness2 I try and always be polite. I made my first pick not too long ago and someone actually put "Who cares??" as another choice. Its just not nice, people! Good article!

The Fanwhore: Have you ever been added por someone, and then when you went to their perfil to possibly add them back, saw only posts with things like "Thanks for the add!" as far as the eye could see? Congrats, you've just met a Fanwhore. This person is pretty much just obsessed with getting fans. They can spend hours adding people, and will usually add back anyone who adds them. They tend to have obscenely large numbers of fans, and to get them obscenely fast. Can go ballistic if they haven't gained at least five new fãs in the last hour.

Nobody likes it when others ruin their fun por telling them the end of the story. Some people just aren't as caught up with others because they're busy or haven't gotten around to it. Whether it's your favorito TV show and you're a few episodes behind or a book that you haven't read yet, the last thing you want is for someone to tell you what happens. Spoilers can ruin the fun for everyone else and the last thing we want to do is take the fun out of your favorito stuff.

A lot of users were unhappy when fãs were making picks that were spoilers during the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly...

Lately I have noticed a swell in the amount of inappropriate comments. Comments that have sexual innuendo, are hurtful, or are just plain gross, and most of the time they have nothing to do with the topic at hand. What I fail to grasp is why people feel like they need to do this. I can't understand why they can't control themselves and write something appropriate or nothing at all. Is it a lack of sense of humor? Do they not realize that people spend a lot of time contributing to this site and a comment like that can make all their efforts feel wasted? Or do they not...

The door to Fanpop is always open

I have had technology since I was three. Playing link and link on my SNES against/with my family (parents included!) were part of my childhood. I came onto the internet when I was around eleven, still fueled por a need for technology, rarely seen without my Gameboy and link in it. I had to, as most people, find a place on the internet to settle into. I tried many places, first setting myself up a site at link, probably back when Dave and papa were still there and hadn't even started to think of fanpop yet.

The My atualizações feature received a major overhaul during the last few weeks. I'll provide a quick run down of how it works and what it can do for you.

Where Can I Find It?
My atualizações can be found on your user perfil page if once you are logged in. If you have updates, it should be the first module on the right hand side of your page. If you don't have any updates, then the module doesn't show up - but you can always go to My atualizações from the bottom right link in the About Me module on the topo, início left of your perfil page.
