This section of my fanpop User's Guide covers links, the lifeblood of Fanpop, and was last substantively edited on 4 June 2013.

So, you've registered on the site and now you want to add some content to your favorito spots. The vast majority of the stuff on fanpop is in the form of links which point to content in other places, whether they are articles, galleries, videos, games, or any other sort of content you can find online.

Check before you add!
Any time that you are about to add content to Fanpop, you should check first to make sure that the content isn't already linked from the site (at least not in the same spot). The web site will tell you if you attempt to enviar the exact same url as already exists in a spot, but your check needs to be mais thorough than that. If, for instance, you want to link to a video of violão, guitarra legend link performing on stage in New York, you need to do a procurar such as "link". If you get no matching results, you're probably safe. But if you get a match within the same spot, you need to check it to make sure it isn't the same video from a different source. Not to harp on videos, because the same thing is possible with images. Just to be clear, different vídeos of the same thing are OK (say, screen recordings of different people fighting the same boss battle in a video game); you just really want to avoid duplicating the exact same video of the same thing (say, linked from YouTube when a link to the same video on Guba is already present), which is really easy to do in video-heavy spots such as the link and link spots. A simple check should suffice, and helps to protect you from the inevitable fã complaints that you have duplicated content that would come up otherwise. Once you've done this check, you're ready to add a link.

Adding a link
There are two specialized buttons to add different kinds of links on the site: you can "add video" or "add link". Regardless of which type of link you wish to add, there are really just two ways to add a link to a spot on fanpop, what I think of as the basic method and the advanced method. The differences are minor; ultimately, you are presented with a form to fill out with information about the link.
First is the link name, where you should put as descriptive a name as you can generate for the content you are adding.

seguinte is the actual URL for the content. Once you paste or type in that URL, the system will do a simple check to a) make sure that the url is valid, and b) that the url doesn't exactly match an existing link in the same spot.

If you're submitting a video link (or if you're using the advanced method, below), you'll seguinte have the option of checking a box (multipart video) to specify that you are linking to a video in multiple parts. Some video sites put restrictions on how long their vídeos can be, so longer pieces tend to be dividido, dividir into many different vídeos which, when watched in the correct sequence, nearly recreate the original piece. The multipart video feature allows you to link to all the parts of such a video with one form, rather than creating many links (one for each such part). Observant fanpop users can still find multiple, separate but related video links on the site which were uploaded long before the multipart video feature was implemented.

After the multipart video feature (if present) is the text box for the description of the link: here's where you provide a detailed descrição of what the link is. While it isn't required, this field is your opportunity to provide helpful information to the other fans, and also to "sell" your link - inclining other people to click on it to see what it is after they've found your link. Everyone is strongly encouraged to provide a detailed descrição for all of their links.

Finally, after the descrição comes the keywords field. The palavras chave are very important - these determine whether your link will be found in a site procurar or not, as the palavras chave are given priority in searches over words in the description. So, if you have palavras chave that match a fan's procurar terms, your link will appear in the procurar results before links that have matches to the procurar terms in the description. You may enter up to ten words or phrases (each one in the list should be separated por a comma) in the palavras chave field. It's better to have mais palavras chave than fewer, as palavras chave are so vital for procurar to work in finding your content.

When you've finished entering information into all of these fields, click the "submit" button to add your link. You will either get an error message describing a problem and what you need to do to solve it, or confirmation that your link has been enviado successfully.

Now, for a brief descrição of the two methods:

Adding links: the Basic Method
The basic method is to find content that you like on a web site, copy the url for that content into your computer's clipboard, then go to a separate web browser window or tab to load the desired spot on fanpop (if you didn't have it up already) and submitting the form to add the link. The advantage of this method is that you have a window open on fanpop separate from the window you are using to browse the rest of the web, so that it's easy to do the searches you need to do to avoid duplicating links without disrupting whatever else you're doing online. The disadvantage is that this method is mais time-consuming.

Adding links: the Advanced Method
The advanced method is to use the "Add to Fanpop" bookmarklet (link) to jump to fanpop and add a link from your current browser window.
Simply put, once you have the bookmarklet in your browser, any page that you load in your browser window can be added as a link por clicking the toolbar button "Add to Fanpop". The only difference is that you have to select the spot to which you want to add the link from a pull-down menu...and this menu only includes spots of which you are already a fan! This method has the advantage of speed, but the disadvantage that it disrupts the flow of what you were doing in the first place and can be a mess when you try to navigate through your history or use the browser's back button. Also, you have to already be a fã of the particular spot to which you wish to add a link before you may use this feature.

Myself, while I mostly take the time to use the basic method, I have the "Add to Fanpop" bookmarklet on all my browsers and use it with some frequency on my 'higher volume' spots (that is, the spots to which I add content mais regularly).

Adding links to your profile
If you wish to editar your perfil to list one or mais links under such headings as "Favorite TV Show," "Favorite Musician," "Favorite Movie," or "Favorite Book," go to your perfil first.
Then click "Edit Profile."
In the resulting page, you'll see many form fields to edit. The section you want is section 2, called "2. Fun Stuff About You." Each of the items (favorite book, TV show, film and musician) is listed in a separate field. Put the link or links you want to add using the text formatting link in the section "Inserting Uniform Resource Locators (URLs)," with a comma separating each one.
Once you've done all the edits, make sure to click the "Submit" button on your editar perfil page to save your changes.
That's it!

Kidding as usual. Actually, it's Sunday and I have some spare time on my hands so I thought I would write up some points I think need changing with the new layoot and I invite you to CONSTRUCTIVELY make your points in the comments. My idea behind this is to have a collection of concerns that we can show the F4. This way instead of ranting and going "OMG I HATE DIS!" we can make ourselves heard. I know the F4 are awesome and have listened to us in the past. Remember the mural debacle? Remember how they changed the layoot after we pointed it oot? Remember how they brought back the forums?

EXACTLY!...

Hello =)

Sit down, shut up and listen to my (pretty much) unnecessary but still quite fun idea #401.
You may laugh afterwards.
But now...Silence and pay attention!

Disclaimer: Yes I admit it, I didn't come up with this idea on my own, I saw something similar years atrás on a german website.

Here we go...
POPCOINS
Popcoins are virtual fanpop money.
The idea came to my mind when I was thinking about a possibility to change one's username without being able to change it all the time and without having to pay real money.

This is how popcoins would work:
There would be a popcoin symbol right seguinte to where the...

So, you've found Fanpop, are at least intrigued por what you've seen, and want more. So, now what?

First of all, if you haven't already, you will want to link for the following reasons:

1)Spots: once you've registered and logged in, you can create a personalized list of spots that match your unique interests. In addition, if you can't find the spot that fits you, you can create your own!

2)Ratings: Rating the content on fanpop is the engine that drives the site, and you can only rate things once you've registered and logged in.

3)Picks: Only logged-in users can answer any of the perguntas on the...

Today on June 6th, The Meebo bar was not working. Many fãs could not log on and all of them thought that it was a glitch or a fail. But then, according to snakemanfan, google shut down Meebo permanently to work on Google+. It is totally damn stupid. I know that many people use the meebo bar in order for chatting on fanpop and other stuff, But this is just sad. google want to dominate the whole internet. Just because Google+ is being updated just does not mean that you have to shut down the Meebo bar permanently. So today, We have to say our Final Words to the Meebo bar as it shuts down forever.

This will be a really sad thing for users who have used the Meebo Bar. I really do not know if they will replace it or bring it back, But for now, Meebo is gone, Forever. :( :( :(

NOTE: I wrote all of this on my tablet.
Yeah, I know this is kinda lame, but this is all I could think up! :'(

Just go to an article, (or look the person who you want to message up) and click their name near the top. fanpop will show you their perfil page and scroll down until you find the "Message" tab. Click it and ...voila!

Just type your message and send it. If they message you back, your caixa de entrada will tell you! Try it!

Sorry if this was lame! :(

Hello Fanpoppers. I know this artigo is late but figured I should still post it in the event that I hit on something that hasn't been covered por one of your fellow fanpoppers in an earlier artigo or fórum post (however unlikely that might be).

Here's a little bit of insight into some of the new things that you might have run into on fanpop in the past few weeks...

Video and image embeds
You can now embed a video or image in your initial fórum post (and all of the subsequent replies). Just look for the "add an image" or "embed a video" link on the fórum submission form. Each post is limited...

Okay, so Hulu has become a real problem recently, with misplaced videos. I know there is already an article. But I wanted to express my own views. Here are links to misplaced videos. Get the Hulu user off of Fanpop!

Okay, so there are ten links of misplaced videos. But thats nothing. Hulu has uploaded hundreds of videos, and many of them are misplaced. If you find a link to a misplaced video, put it in the comments. Maybe, just maybe, we can get rid of Hulu.

Well my first idea was that is could be some of the funny and brilliant vídeos i watch, it could be. Was it the amazingly good soapbox's people take time to write, could be.

Hmmm i don't seem to be geting any further into understanding why i amor fanpop, i still can't get it out of my mind. HELP!!! i keep thinking. Is it the funny and insightful comments people take time to write, could be. Is it the forum's that we all play game's and...

Now that mais clubes have the ability to create official ícone & banner picks, I thought my link on the subject could use a little revision.

Why does it matter, you ask? It's important to remember that fanpop is a community, and should do things as a group. Randomly starting a pesquisa for a new icon, banner or background is rude to other club members. Making ícones and banners takes time, and the first options (likely made por the person who started the poll) are given the unfair advantage of being there the longest. Early voters aren't likely to check back in every dia to see if new options have...

I can't believe it's been a whole year!
Today marks our 1-year anniversary of launching the fanpop public beta! That's right folks, it was one ano atrás today that we pressed the button and unveiled fanpop to the world wide web. And since then, we've had millions and millions of people come to the site. It's been great because we've gotten to know so many of you through the community. Whether it be in a fun fórum game like A-Z in heroes or a heat Picks debate about vanilla vs. chocolate, we've really bonded with our users over the past year.

The site has grown and changed so much in the past year. When we launched our spots we just...
