oi guys! So if you've read the latest mangá chapter then you would have seen Juvia at the end looking rather gloomy... I was wondering what you guys think happened to Juvia during the timeskip. Do you think its realated to Gray? Or something else??

Now that is a particularly good question. First of all this is precisely what Mashima intends; after Gray and Juvia's intimate moment in 416 it seemed certain they would travel together but now we have Juvia seemingly alone and regressed back into the rain woman. Mashima is hyping things up so I doubt it is anything as basic as Gray simply leaving Juvia.

Juvia is much mais emotionally strong than that and was willing to give up her pursuit of Gray in 416. I believe something truly serious transpired between them that either made Gray leave her without her knowing to protect her or they were forcibly separated.

I personally believe it may have something to do with Gray's half-demon form seen when he absorbed momento-mori. That was all too swiftly brushed aside por Mashima so I believe it may have re-emerged and plunged him into a dark state of mind or left him in a dangerous state. Juvia may feel she has failed to 'take care of Gray' as she promised Silver and feels sadness for what has happened.

That is all theorising though on my part but honestly, I'm not convinced Gray simply 'left' her to train. It would make no narrative sense after 416 and Mashima himself tweeted it will be a 'serious' matter that concerns Juvia.

But above all, Juvia's state is undoubtedly linked to Gray and I cannot wait to see what unfolds and how it develops her character. She is long overdue some focus on her and to be brought back into the story and into the main team so early can only mean great things for her character in terms of characterisation and panel-time. I'm simply glad to see an underused excellent character be finally used seriously than for comic relief.

Well it might be possible that something related to Gray would happen. My guess is that maybe he left her because he wants to get stronger. Even though he gained his Ice Devil Slayer Powers from his father Silver, he is still not strong enough.
