If cancer's zodiac sign is supposed to be sideways, why is it always up and down in the show?

I haven't really noticed until this episode. Ever since this episode I keep thinking that it says 69. I know it's just his sign, but it's hard not to think 69.

I was looking up cancer's sign and they all showed it sideways. I'm just a little confused....

i looked it up and saw a few diagonal and a few vertical. I'm assuming it's whatever they want it to be. Maybe Japão draws differently or Hiro Mashima wantedd it to stand out. Cancer is one of the few that wouldn't look weird sideways so he may have taken advantage of it.
