Here is a great artigo on AutoblogGreen on the hot new Chevy Volt, an electric car with a built-in gasoline/ethanol generator. They appear to be using A123System's nano-phosphate lithium-ion batteries (which GM has recently licensed).

This battery may be the big break we've all been waiting for. 10x the recharge cycles, up to 5x energy density. Imagine if that 80,000 mile battery instead lasted 800,000 miles before needing replacement... That's almost a lifetime of driving.

GM plans a plug-in hybrid car using a series generator. Wagoner admits killing the EV1 electric car was his worst decision ever. Wow, how quickly things change!

Much faster (0-60 in somewhere around 6 seconds) and of course much mais efficient than a gas xB. Hopefully battery prices will come down. No fuel cell; straight lithium-ion batteries. Nice review complete with cheesy video.

A puny, and, dare I say, cute electric car that utilizes a lithium ion battery pack (no hydrogen pumping fuel cell needed here!). I'm a bit surprised at the 100 mile range considering the newish-tech batteries, but I guess it's a smaller pack.
