I stood there in a daze. "Um..yeah. Sorry. It's mine," I said as my eyes widened. His leather jaqueta was a sheer black, hugging his shape all the while complimenting his grey t-shirt and dark jeans. He was gorgeous. Oh, god! Where's Carla when I need her? I looked at her, talking to Kelsey and another girl who's name I didn't know. She smiled up at me, giving me a thumbs-up and mouthing the word 'cute' before looking away. Dammit! I walked back and suddenly felt myself almost face to face with the hard concrete. I kept expecting for the pain to come, but none came. The reason for that was because a pair of strong arms held my waist to prevent me from falling. "Oh, god. I'm sorry! I didn't mean to-" "It's alright. Though I don't think I've met anyone as accident-prone as you in all my life," he said. Blushing like crazy, I stood up and I said a mere 'Thank you' to the guy. "I'm Jacob, por the way. And you are?"
"Cheri. That's--That's my name," I stuttered and offered him my hand. Of course being the gentleman I assumed he was, he took my hand without hesitation. My blue eyes stared into his beautiful green orbs, which had specks of gold around the edges. They darkened considerably when he noted my staring. "Well, um.. thanks for catching me when I fell. If it weren't for you, I probably would've had to go to the hospital, Mr..what did you say your name was?" "Jacob. I'm pretty sure you remember me from somewhere seeing as you know my brother and his fiancé, Bella." Wait, what? Bella is married to one of my friends? Edward and I were friends both in high school and college, until he had to mover away from Forks to pursue a career in New York. Last I heard, he was the co-owner of a huge construction company in Brooklyn. But..he couldn't be engaged could he? "I probably do know your brother from somewhere. What's his name?" "He's the co-owner of Cullen & Co. a construction company. I think you guys were friends back in college..?"
"Oh, yeah. Me and Edward were really great friends back then." Of course back then when he wanted to introduce me to his family I said no. I was too shy. Besides, we were friends and I didn't want his family to think of us as boyfriend/girlfriend. Or maybe I was afraid they wouldn't like me. Anyways, Edward and I still kept in touch, but due to our busy schedules we rarely had time. Not that I'm complaining, though. It was too awkward. "Hello? Cheri?" Oh, gosh! Why do I keep spacing out like this? "Oh, sorry. Well, anyways I gotta go see my friend over there.." I pointed in Kelsey's direction. "Oh, that's okay. I had a great time. See you soon." And the last thing I saw before I stepped out the door, was the pair of beautiful green eyes I'd suddenly grown to love.
