	Mongoose09 picked Yes, I think she is.: Of course, but out of all the Princesses she's probably the least good role model (if that makes sense). Even though she could be considered selfish for going against her parent's best wishes, she still teaches young children to never give up on something that is such a huge part of your life. 	phantomrose89 picked No, I think she isn't.: For me, Ariel is my favorite princess, but even my own mother hated how much I liked her as a child. She thought Ariel gave me the wrong expectations about consequences, like neva2oldf4disney said. Ariel acted on her own selfish whims, completely threw her family under the bus, and plunged herself into almost certain ill-fated teenage love, and yet.. everything worked out for her. As much as I love TLM and I ADORE Ariel ,I think she's a great character, but not necessarily a good role model. posted over a year ago.

	maryksand picked Yes, I think she is.: I could never blame Ariel for following her heart and going against her father's will. I mean, she wasn't a little girl anymore and her father wasn't necessary always right, in fact, he was very often wrong. And if Ariel hadn't done what she had, her father probably would have never given humen a chance. I agree that she risked too much and some of her actions where too rushed, but in the end of the day she was the reason why her father learned a lot and she found a chance to be with the love of her life. Ariel is a good role model, because she isn't afraid to explore what's new and different, she isn't judgmental and she also fights for her happiness till the end. I think she was meant to be more relatable than role model-y though like Belle, as someone said. But you're clearly supposed to root for her and like her determination and willingness to settle for nothing. I don't think she's a bad person, she just doesn't have any qualities I admire or wish to have for myself. posted over a year ago.
