Ariel's sisters don't really have much of a point since they're in the movie less than 5 minutes. They could have had Ariel be missing by it being her 16th birthday party or a concert for everyone to hear her sing with her beautiful voice. They only added her sisters because of the original but in the original they actually had a point but in the movie I think they're completely unnecessary. Chef frenchy that was even more pointless we could of had more scences of Ariel and Eric getting to know each other we could have even had that broadway song One Step Closer and they could have danced.Even though this is my all time favorite movie there are some things I would change.

*Louie. There's no need to try and belittle him by calling him frenchy, it kinda annoys me =/

Daughters of Triton is completely necessary IMO, because it gives us a look at Ariel's personality and introduces us to some of the major characters in the movie.

I agree with blaze on the Daughters of Triton.

This scene was merely for comical relief. It wasn't very necessary.

I know firegirl1515 I meant to type the song but I can't spell it and I forget how to spell his name sometimes plus I didn't even know what his name was when I was little and I just called him Chef Frenchy and that jerk

^^Oh, okay.

And I disagree about the Daughters of Triton. Why would Sebastian be at her birthday party? And why would it be a concert only for her? Besides, I doubt a girl like Ariel would forget her own birthday party =/

I agree also, although I LOVE Chef Louie's scene. It is probably one of my most favorite parts.

firegirl1515 because she's the princess and the king a.k.a. his bosses daughter, he's the court composer so obviously he would be preforming a song for her. Ariel wouldn't forget her birthday she'd just want to go exploring before her party and just lose track of time. The concert just for her because everyone in the sea knows that she has the most beautiful voice there ever was, besides Sebastion would also see this as an oppertunity to show off some new music.

@KataraLover: "he's the court composer so obviously he would be preforming a song for her"- no, not obviously. That idea didn't once pop into my head. And none of your alternate beginnings make any sort of sense to me, sorry *shrugs*

^I agree, firegirl1515. There wasn't a part in the movie saying it was her birthday at all.

KataraLover, it was Eric who was having his birthday, not Ariel. That's why Grimbsy gave him the statue. Triton just wanted to show off Ariel's voice, and it was a huge moment in Sebastian's career. (Hence him saying that because she missed it, he said that he was a huge joke in the whole kingdom.)

I know it's not her birthday I'm saying it could be a different beginning besides it would be cute if they did share the same birthday, I'm just saying some possible things they could have done by making Ariel an only child

^But if Ariel had no sisters it wouldn't be as close to the original book.
Anyways I think his scenes are funny.

He gets on my nerves, and I don't like his song. I like the daughters of Triton scene. We get to meet her family and that's interesting.

What do you have against Ariels sisters KataraLover? It seems like all you do is praise Ariel and bash them...I'm just curious as to why.

No it's just that they don't do anything in the movie if they had a bigger part in the movie than they'd actually have a point. All they do is sing that song and get all nosie with why Ariel's acting so dreamy. In the original they actually have a big part by cutting their hair so that they could give their baby sister a chance to stay alive. kiraragirl200 in the original Belle had sisters and was called Beauty but they didn't keep that in the movie she was called Belle and is an only child. I do adore them in the third movie, they mostly just bug me in the series if you've watched it you'd know why.

that's not true. there was an episode when arista and ariel became very good friends at the end. and, yes, arista was mean to ariel but ariel was ALSO mean to arista.

That's because Arista always starts it like with the bad luck creature Arista doesn't care for it and wants it kicked out of the kingdom and doesn't care if it dies or not. She blames Ariel for Ursula coming. How the heck is it her fault? Anybody would expect her to come to the kingdom.

^ I'm glad Ariel's sisters are in there because it refreshing for one of the princesses to actually have siblings. Plus, I think if Ariel were an only child, some of the people who disliked like her decision to run away and because human would dislike it more because who would rule the kingdom after King Triton was gone? And, she probably wouldn't be able to explore the ocean as much as she did, because as the only heir, they would've kept a closer watch on her.

Sub plots are an important part of childrens films. So the Louis scene is also significant. The Daughters of Triton is obviously very necessary to the story. That goes without saying.
