probably. Eric is king of what looked like a relatively small kingdom, same with Cinderella, & Snow White.

Tiana doesnt HAVE any political power. Mulan & Pocahontas clearly dont have any.

Is Beast even a prince of anything?

disney_prince picked Snow White:
Thanks tiffany88 for letting me use your images!

Cinderella: Clearly lives in a society that is very style over substance, you can tell that family and background is priority. Cinderella came from an aristratic family and married into royalty, she has a fair bit of political power.

Aurora: Born into royalty and married into royalty, however herself and her spouse being the children of the current monarch that combination of both monarchies gives her a great amount of political power as well as the fact that she is favoured greatly by her people.

Ariel: Like Aurora and Snow White, Ariel was born into royalty and married into royalty. The youngest of 7 children on the monarch of Atlantica doesn't sound alot but on land will probably give her a bit of power. She marries Eric, who seems to be ruling the kingdom in which he lives.

Belle: Marries prince, not a lot know, not a lot of political power however the fact she come from a working class background is both a positive and a negative in determining whether she has much political power or not.

Jasmine: Only daughter of current monarch of Agrbah and is clearly driven to become Queen, she has great political power from birth, however married a non royal. The fact that she didn't see her people untill later on in life could once again be on her side or go against her.

Pocahontas: Daughter of Chief, not a lot of power by birth of marriage, however as stated in the film, people will turn to her for help and guidance due to family which in my opinion is a degree of political power.

Mulan: Neither born into or marry into direct royalty. However being hero of China and having a close relationship with the Emperor is making her an influence to the kingdom in which she lives.

Tiana: Marries into royalty of Maldonia. Still very little power due to the times she lives in and the fact the kingdom in which she is princess isn't her home land and we assume she stays in New Orleans to run her new restraunt.

Snow White: I think has the most. Born into royalty and by the end of the film is the ruler of her kingdom, she marries Prince who we also assume is ruler of his kingdom, giving her great political power.

firegirl1515 picked Pocahontas:
Snow White, Cinderella, and Aurora have very minimal power, being princesses/queens in their time periods. Arab princesses had little/no political power- they only had power over their harem, and that was just about it. Ariel was the last in line for the throne, and became queen of a very small kingdom, so I supposed she might have a little more power. Of course, I'm sure her powers would've been limited until she learned the human way of life. Tiana has no power in the USA, and because Naveen's parents are still alive, has very little power in Maldonia. Mulan has none, being a woman in ancient China. I have no clue if the Beast is King/Prince of anything, so I can't say much about Belle.

Pocahontas seems to be well respected by her people and, although I hate to bring sequels into this, was accepted pretty well as the substitute for her father when she went to England. Plus, Poca was able to influence her father's decisions.

Of course Beast is prince of somewhere, its just never stated because it isn't really relevant to the plot of the film, he's meant to come across as being mysterious and saying something like "Yeh, the Beast, the prince of the glorious kingdom of shitnameia" wouldn't work.

^^Oh, I know that. I guess I worded it wrong. I meant we don't really know how big a kingdom it is or anything really about it's politics. With the others, we can tell from the culture and time period, but with BatB, it's a bit harder it figure out.

I see where you are coming from there, we have very restriced knowlege of the Beast's kingdom which is a bit of a shame really. And your resoning for Pocahontas has made me re-think the amount of power that she holds, now I think she actually has quite a lot.

I disagree. Mulan could (and should have) had some power in her country. She saved China, and the emperor did offer her a place on his council, which she refused. If she really needed to, I'm sure Mulan would have the guts to make some changes, considering who she is.
Plus - and I really hate to bring the suck-quels into this - in Mulan II, another emperor said she was worth more than 3 'mere' princesses and almost married a prince. That's gotta count for something right?
P.S. not that the other princesses don't have power too...

Straggy picked mulan:
In the sequel, the emperor of the neighbouring country said that for his son to marry the hero of all China is better than to have the Chinese emperor's three daughters to marry three of his sons.
She's a military hero for one, which means she'd be more involved. She's also trusted with missions etc and her and Shang are given the decisions to make because they proved that they can think on their feet and make the right choice. Also, she's very tight knit with the emperor and he clearly values her opinion because he wanted to make her a member of his council.

^^Oh yeah . . . true. But we don't know how big the lands Beast rules over are, so we still can't assume much about Belle's situation.

@firegirl1515: Seeing as no-one seemed to care or know that a prince, his castle and all his servants had pretty much been wiped off the map to the extent that nobody knew there was a castle or a prince or anything in the general vicinity, we can pretty much assume that he's prince of his estate and little more.

It's not that the beast doesn't have have parents. It's more likely that they're still the ruling monarchs of France. Otherwise the prince/beast would have been king no matter how old he was or even whether he was single. That and people would notice if their ruling king/queen when missing and the castle had gone all creepy.

He was likely a younger Prince in the French Royal Family granted sovereignty in a french province to the south east. Savoy is the best bet link . He would still be considered a Prince but would only have the political power of a Duke. Just like Prince Charles's younger brother (Prince Andrew) is Duke of York and is wife Sarah Furguson was granted both titles of Duchess and Princess. So based on this theory...its not likely Belle would ever become queen.

It's silly that people would choose Pocahontas....clealy they don't know much about Native American history. Mulan would also only have as much power as the advice she could give because her first and foremost responsibility would be to bear children for the Prince.

Like Disney_Prince says, Snow White is the ONLY princess who is the sovereign of her own country NOT influenced by marriage. After her stepmother dies she is next in line to the throne of her home country. Then she is ALSO the co-reigning monarch of the Prince's country assuming that he is next in line for the throne. So based from what we KNOW...she is a Queen and he's still only a Prince.
